Is it possible for a player to do something that prevents the clock ticking down. I ask because I have often played when the time runs out but the player is not penalised.

The logical reason is that you see the clock start at a different time due to the inherent delays with this style of older browser plugin based internet games. It may have run out on your computer but hasn't yet run out on theirs.

Lol daviking, I get this a lot and a minute and half later they get penalised or they don't and they get enough time whether it be 5 seconds or 20 seconds.It is definitely a cheat, soon as my clock hits zero bang I am gone but deffo people getting more time for shots and it is wrong

The shot timer is independent on each persons computer. It is only a guide on the opponents shot. If the opponent is lagging or disconnected, then it allows the opponent to reconnect and take the shot. An automatic random shot is taken when the time runs out on their machine.

The sad bit is they seem to think a computer game is something someone would actually bother to cheat in to begin with!

Sorry but I have to disagree, unless you were being ironic.

But of course there are many gamers out there no matter what game it is who will put a lot of bother into cheating over a game, or at the very least try stupid tricks or immoral tactics to get and unfair advantage over the game, or an opponent. Just look at the amount of sad people on here who try to play mind games just to put off their opponent.

The basis of snooker is mind games, studying your opponent, developing strategies to take them out of their comfort zone with the aim of capitalising on mistakes to win the game.

Any game usually has an ability to 'cheat', someone went as far as to make an aimbot to show funky wasn't 100% protected from Hacks.

Look at Call of Duty, they spend £30-50 for a game and mod the Leaderboards. World of Tanks PC, i saw a video of someone using an aimbot (and i don't mean the games auto-aim feature). While it is nearly protected from Hacks, Fact is people can cheat.

No come on, real snooker is about sportsmanship and integrity. A game on funkysnooker can involve trash talking, insulting, and any sort of chat in an attempt to put the other player off while they are playing a shot. Very big difference.

How can anyone be put off by something in a chat box, thats madness, its words on the internet!!

But thinking about the cheating thing, even if someone was sad enough to waste so much time on a game, for an "aimbot", if you mean something to show how to aim a shot, to work on this style of game, it would have to be able to read your mind. I have seen the youtube video posted in chat and its laughable if people think its real. Then again given the nature of some conversations I have had here I wouldnt be surprised.

First off, many people can get put off by it, it's not madness. Secondly, that wasn't the point. The point is, some people actually do it, whether it works or not is besides the point.

If random "people" typing things on an old internet site can disturb someones concentratioon even a little its time for them to give it up!

I was only arguing your point that you think no one would be bothered to cheat at a computer game which is completely false because millions all over the world have used cheats, hacks, mods, bots, and/or at the very least tried to gain an unfair advantage over a computer game. My example wasn't as good as dgeneratio's examples, I was just trying to keep it related to funkysnooker.

Even in the very strange event that it did somehow bother you, then why not just go to a different site or shut down and go outside?

Because insults, threats and generic mind game comments can be pretty upsetting and/or annoying in general (imagine lining up an important shot in the frame, just before you hit it you see this flash of green in the chat box saying "hero in his own mind, hit and hope" or "dollar stroke with a 5 cent brain" or just a generic childish insult.)

It's the internet therefore it is not real and does not matter? That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.
