Why do so many people go through on 'byes'.. why not set up the tournament so that, instead of 10 people being put through on byes, pair them together, and have 5 extra matches.. it is frustrating.. cheers

How would that work? Then you would end up with people going through on byes for the next rounds...

The whole point of byes is so that in the next round there are 32, 16 etc. places left, so that it the tournament can run through to the final without any more byes being needed.

But that messes up the whole system. As tom said, it has to equal up. Or else you could have any number of players in a final.

I think this should be explained in the help center as an addition, i get asked this a lot.

It's all about running smoothly, you have to be good at the maths to work it out though.
