just wondering what is the point of 10 second games and maybe the games should be changed to 20 second minimum, i thought snooker was all about thinking and planning your next shot you cant do that in 10secs, i think 10 secs is a pool thing.
i dont know if this happens to anyone else but when the timer beeps i get really harsh lag and

While I don't like people who take 90 secs to think, plan and takea shot, I do agree that 10 secs is harsh.

I was unfortunate enough to be in a 10 second game in the mod v members thing, which I stupidly didnt notice until I had accepted the invitation. I agree with you bo, ten seconds was not enough time for me to think and take the shot. I disliked that game intensely because snooker for me is about a measured approach, as you say thinking and planning.

I dont know if it is worth removing it as an option, because some may like it - after all there was one little fad not long ago for just bashing the balls everywhere and hoping that one went down. Not everyone likes to play the game in the same way.

I dont have the timer beeper on, so i dont get the lag you speak of.

to be fair, i prefer 10-20s game's, but the best thing to do, is before you enter the game, just clikc on the game you wish to enter ( click only once ) and then check the time limit, this way you won't get frustrated due to it being a short, and silly time.

Quite so ronni. its easy enough to check. I never used to bother but I do now, ever since I was 'caught' in a ten sec game which I hated.

Once bitten, twice shy.

i think 10 sec shot limit is silly and used my lesser ranked players as a weapon and a leveller to bring higher ranks down a level

To be honest, if you don't like 10 second games don't play them, it's not like you have to start the game to find out the time limit.

There are players (That do include high ranked players) that prefer to play short games as they feel it's a good time limit for them to think through and play the shot.

Yes, maybe 90 seconds should be lowered, as no-one needs that long to think through a shot realisticly on a computer snooker game.

Exactly. To go back to the original point of the thread, I don't think there is justification to remove the 10 sec; it is easy to avoid.

However, the upper limit of 90 has caused a lot of anguish and frequent appeals to me and other mods, by people who have been caught unawares and are being frustrated by a player taking all of the 90 secs. Yes I know they should have looked, but they DON'T, often. Does anyone, even a total newbie, really need a minute and a half, to work out what shot to take?

i dis-agree there, as quite often i need 90s to think a shot through, as i have often got a problem, so need a 90s game so ican play aswell as sort the problem out!.

I don't think it should be removed. I like playing 10 second games just for the fun. Gives you a bigger challange and a different approach to playing.

End of the day, if you don't want to play a 10 second or 90 second game then don't join one. It's optional so you just need to get into the habit of simply looking at the game stats before joining.

Following on from what brassraptor mentioned, it gets pretty irritating when users call us to the game room because their opponent is running down the time from 90 seconds. Firstly the 90 seconds is there so friends can chat and play at the same time withought rushing or panicing throughout because they missed the time limit due to typing etc. If you join a room with 90 seconds with an owner you have never seen before then it's common sense not to join it. As said, there are no other reasons for having this much time unless you want to chat.

The options are there to serve any situation; 10 seconds for a quick fun game or 90 seconds for chatting. It is to the user's own decision whether they want to play that time limit or not, all they have to do is spare 3 seconds to look.

10 second games are a put off, as soon as you find the correct shot you get that annoying beeping noise, 15 seconds should be the minimum

You can turn the 'Annoying' beeping noise off...

there is obviously a good argument for both sides so this is why i am saying highlight it so it makes it easier to see.
