A 12 year old comes along and sees it. Likes it then becomes a gambling addict in the future. Not a good state.

It would be good for a different site but not this one. Good idea in general though

i dont agree that just because a 12 year old can view a gambling site they will get addicted to gambling.

As said before youd need age verification and a paypal account or something and a 12 year old shouldnt be able to provide that.
I cant see how people say because the option is there to do it that a new generation of kids will grow up hooked on gambling on online pool.
It would be just an option for older users with money to gamble

The nearest that this would become to being ok in my opinion is gambling virtual money, afterall monopoly the board game is gambling, just with pretend money.

For a start, it couldn't be done with PayPal as some of you have suggested. PayPal don't allow transactions that involve wagering money. Secondly, it isn't called gambling when it is a game of skill - and I don't believe the Government view it as such so the site wouldn't require a gambling act. I wouldn't agree with money being wagered on just 1 frame, but a series of maybe 5 (after all, someone could win from the break without the other guy having a chance).

And of course, it would just be an option - people wouldn't be required to wager money. It could be done as an entirely different entity to FunkySnooker.

I agree, gambling money is just a bad idea... I also think a gambling view would both force a lot of members to leave the site, and damage the amount of new ones...

I think it would be good idea for players to choose how many ranking points they wish to wager over a frame or two, but only as an option.

Why would people be forced to leave the site just cos there is an option to gamble a few quid if you so wish..
Nobody is forcing you to play for money and i really can't see any situation where you would feel you have to leave snooker because of this.
Also from my point of view i would imagine being able to play for money would attract people who previously wouldnt have bothered to play.
People who like to have a laugh and win a bit of cash at the same time would want to get good at the game and so would spend more time on here.
And people who dont wanna play for money arent gonna be put off if it is only an option.
I dont think this idea will ever come to fruition but i just dont agree that it will cause people to delete and make the site less popular

i wonder if the mods used to say that when people said lets have more regular tournaments on pool or Lets make arcade snooker and original snooker?
At the end of the day its just an idea- some people will say its a terrible idea and some people will say its a great idea.
If the idea doesnt come in im not gonna go and play snooker somewhere else- i doubt it will come in- im just waiting for someone to give a valid argument against it being an option.
And by valid i mean not "ten year olds will get into debt and steal their parents credit cards" or "all the current members will delete their accounts and storm off in mass protest".
As i said its just an idea and i dont care whether it comes in or not- it was just a thought

To be honest i think the general idea of playing for cash is a good feature for 'a site'. There are quite a few pool games out there where you can in fact play for money, however, sites that offer gambling have to have a strict entry policy and all gambling is via credit card deposits thus ignoring our 'underage' users. Funkysnooker could not therefore have this option.

There are some that are hoping for a feature within the site that enables 'moneyplay'. Whilst possible, it seems very unlikely. The coding and work involved to get it there is excessive and we must remember that the whole thing about funkysnooker and pool is that is available to everyone for free...

This is a bad idear mate, because players on here could get so addicted they could end up putting there saving money in it and then it could reflect a bad influence on this server. then funkysnooker could get banned!!
