I saw a few people deleting, an action they were sorry about the next day.

On pool there was for example bully1, who was a consistent top player, always round 900. He deleted his acount when he was drunk, and the next day he made new acount. Hard work to get to the top dissapeared by one click.

Here s my idea:

When someone deletes, he will be given a period to think about it. One week after he pushed the button "delete acount", he will receive a message by e-mail "Do you really want to delete your funkysnooker/pool acount?" Then he can choose whether he deletes or not.

your thoughts?

This is why the confirmation exists on deleting, to make sure you really want to.

However, i have long suggested a deactivation system, for many reasons along with this one.

The suggestion would be that when an account is deleted, it would dissapear from the tables etc, but if someone changed their mind, they could log back in, re-register their details, and resume playing.

If they didnt log in again, after 6 months, the account is deleted permanently.

This could also apply to old accounts, after 6 months of non-use, the user recieves an email, and if they dont reply, the account is deleted.

This would stop "deleted user" cluttering up the forums, prevent "identity theft", where other users registed deleted names immediately, and actually free up more usernames as the old ones expire.
