How about a KOTH type tourney every month of the top 16 ranked players in both games? Or even make it 32 but top 16 get in with out qualifying?

Wouldn't work. Rankings change all the time. The rankings at the time of the tournament would probably change when the tournament actually starts, leading people to call unfair play.
Something like this would be better done with mates, as an official wouldnt work.

Could make it that anyone who has been in the top 16 gets entered.

Back in the day used to do something like it in mPlayer, Winner got a gold trophy next to his name in the lobby for the month, was a good laugh .

Tournaments featuring the last x number of tourney winners or finalists have been suggested, and that would be as good a way of getting the top players together as any.

Someone can be the best player on the site, but if they only play friendlies and tournaments their rank could be 675...

Edit - however, it could lead to more change in the rank leaderboards if there was a regular tourney as you suggest, with people battling it out for entry.

The timing is easily sorted as it would be people's rank at the time they enter the tourney that counts.

It would be a popular addition if this was brought in, and would make members try harder to get into the top 16 ranks, it would be a great tournament if this happend

There would be a few issues though. As, already said, how would the top 16 be decided as it is constantly changing? And, what if the majority of the top 16 at the time were not online?

I think the best solution to these problems is; to well publicise the tourney and have it on the same day each month at the same time, this way players can make a good attempt to be online at the time. Also, the tournament should take the top 16 players at an instant and automatically enter them into the tourney. To further combat low attendances, if one of the top 16 is missing then the 17th best is automatically entered, if 2 are missing then 17th and 18th best player is entered and so on.....

Would be fun to have the top folk play.

Basically the way it worked back then was a mod would run it on the night, draw the games etc. Therefore you had to qualify but also attend to get in. The the winner got a yellow name and trophy next to his name in the lobby.

Was funny to see how much people loved their yellow name and how folk were when it got taken off them after the month, unless the won it again ofcourse.

Your never in the top 16 ste so it doesnt matter for you

It would make sense if it were the top 16 online at the time the tourney started.

Maybe make a 3-5 minute invite time for the first invite?
