3) The edge modification: if you approach a very high ranking or a very low ranking your score is reduced.
Ideally, no players should be able to reach the extreme limits of the rankings system. If they do, the system is flawed as we can not differentiate between 2 players on the maximum.
Therefore it is (roughly) exponentially more difficult for players above 900 points to reach 1000 points.
An amount is reduced from scores, this is known as the edge modification
The actual amount is linear, at 900 points you lose 0%; at 950 points you lose 25%. If you get past 950 points it becomes even more severe, eventually resulting in a 100% loss of points at 1000.
The inverse occurs for users with scores below 600.

It's in game queries so only fastboysam or Nick can do it... and considering sam is on holiday the thread can't be capped.

There is no need to cap threads for this reason, unless of course they stray way off topic (like this), or break any of the site rules regarding offensive/abusive behaviour.
Threads in game queries can always be added to in a positive way, if people have things to add to them, it can benefit the majority of users who may not fully understand the topic discussed.

Well actually you are nearly right Mike as its not instantly recognisable by the thread title. If anything was to be modified, it should be that.
Josh is right though, a question pertaining to edge modification could arise from this so the necessity for multiple threads could be handled by this one thread, thus making the forum look cleaner
