Fairly simple really, The top spin follows through when it hits the ball, and gives it a double kiss thus taking it off course.

I've had this as well.. i've also had it with back spin. Isn't it something to do with having less control on the ball if you go to the extreme's of either the top of the ball, or bottom?

Well, with screw, the way you hit the ball, it never actually contacts the part of the ball you are aiming at. It touches the first part of the ball then flies back before making full contact, so it takes it off line.

Yes exactly as Damee said, the cue ball hits the ball twice.
