I was wondering if you could make it so when you create a game, you have the choice to chose to allow newbies to play or not, if not then you click "non newbies" only and if you do want to play newbies then just leave it unticked
Thoughts anyone?
Thoughts anyone?

If you play ranked, anyone but newbies can join. In my opinion it's a satisfying enough solution.
(edit) By the way, you can also filter by ranking now, and since newbies are rated 675, you can select any ranking range that excludes them. That way you can also play friendlies.

I mean like playing a game then someone higher ranked than you joins and is a newbie, so could you have a non newbie game?

you may as well join a game where the owner of the game is a similar rank to you and is no newbie

I think the idea is a good one in theory.. but since you lose a % less when you lose to a newbie I don't see the point in it. If you lose to a 675 newbie, you stand to lose about 1-2 points. Those can be won back in one game against just about anyone at any rank.

My bad, I read "guest" instead of "newbie". Please disregard my previous post in this topic.

Come on blutch, you even wrote newbie in your post
15:42 Mon 28 Jul 08 (BST) [Link]
Well... erm... a common typo. The letters are very close to each other you know

Yeah I can see how you got mixed up. "Newbie" sounds exactly like "guest" doesn't it

But do you understand, i think would make alot of people who like to rank alot more happy because they won't have to worry about "newbies or fake newbies" entering there game

This might be off-topic, but I think that a limit should be set on how often a player can reset, this would prevent alot of fake newbies, maybe limit it to one reset per month

But people would deactivate and make a new account, but at least if this is put in, would stop that full stop... and IMO would make people more aware when deactivating

I personally disagree with the idea of excluding newbies from your games. The newbie modification is already there to make playing them less risky... or more precisely, the more newbie they are, the farthest they can be from their real value, therefore the less risks you take.
I think that since this has been smartly implemented in the rankings system, the situation is fair enough.
Also, if I can understand you don't want to play reset newbies, this is not an important enough reason to add a new feature that would exclude "real" newbies from some games.

yea, thats true what blutch said, I don't understand why people don't like playing newbies, they don't loose a significant amount of rank points anyway.

agreed, newbies can gain a lot of points but you dont lose much about 3 pts at most.
