ive noticed that the respot black sometimes goes to the person whopotted it and sometimes goes to the opponent, this is very frustrating can it be resolved???

This was brought in to make it fairer.. Its now randomized as opposed to before where it went to the person who didn't clear up. I personally don't see a problem with it and certainly think its better than it always going to the same person.

Whats your problem with it?

Also, use this thread please: http://www.funkysnooker.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=4810

It was brought in by popular demand - the arguments for and against are covered in the following thread : http://www.funkysnooker.com/viewTopic.do?topicid=4810

i have never liked it as a deciding method, because in real snooker its not wise to take the pot on, whereas on funky it as good as awards the win to whoever gets the shot. i liked knowing who it would go to, as if i was clearing up i would know to get a snooker for definite to avoid the risk. i think as its so easy to pot the black, maybe the rule should be brought in where you are not allowed to pot the black on the first shot? Random idea i know but i would like it

This has already been suggested on the other thread by Damee, and I have already showed there my support for that idea.

However keep in mind that in real snooker it's not wise to try to pot a red off break, still nobody complains about this being done by everyone.
It's also not wise to pot a red along the cushion with the cue ball being far, still nobody complains about this not being a hard shot in all games.

Just this to say that there are some differences, and there will always be, between real snooker and funkysnooker, just because it's a computer game. In some cases we have to find a compromise, and a solution can never please everyone.

In this case, it's not obvious to tell whether it's better to let the player play an easy shot that wouldn't be easy in real life, or to prevent the player from playing a shot that would be authorized in real snooker.

yes i agree entirely blutch, my views fall on the side of your second option in this case, and i should have looked for the other thread.

Lag would be better and more fun, and would be decided by skill.

It seems common sense to me.

I just think that there should be a fixed decision about who gets the black, i think the person who clears should get it,

atleast if you know who gets it you can then choose to get a snooker or play a tactical shot, i was beat on the respot 3 games in a row due to not recieving the shot hence why i raised this point.

Why doesn't the the person who got the lead in the first place deserve it then? They did enough to get a lead like that?

yes i agree also, then the person clearing knows they will need to gain a snooker or risk leaving your opponent with the shot,

eaither way i just think thast it is fairer to have a fixed decision,

In real snooker a coin is tossed. Therefore a randomised taker is the closet thing to the original.

i see your point chuculain, its just on funkyssnooker 9/10 will pot the black straight off, in real life thats prob about 0.1/10 even attempt to.

also when the coin is tossed in snooker whoever wins the toss gets to choose to take or pass the shot to the opponent
