i want to start this thread as ive just taken the sport up and i tend to have a million questions, lol, any other keen fisherman here on funky?

I used to be a keen fisher? Don't do it so much anymore due to work but if theres anything I can help you with I don't mind trying.

Everybody thinks fishing is boring but its 100% the oposite its a fun and relaxible sport, when the sun is out get a few cans and sit and relex its a really great sport!

yes m8 im in agreement, ive always been one of those people who laugh at fishing, then i decided one day to try myy luck and bought a pathetic fishing set with my mate, and had a laugh, since then ive been learning more an more bout it, trying different baits and getting better equipment etc

i love it, just caught some little fish so far and got a buzz out of it,

as you said si, get a load of cans and watever else and have a buzz, night fishing is the way forward. lol

anyway i have no questions but wen i think i will use this thread,

fishing is amaing on a nice day, just sat there relaxing, maybe with a beer or two (and I mean only a few) sit back, relax, get a bit of a tan, catch a few fish, nothing can beat it. You can just forget everything, and its amazing how many hours fly by. I go with my mates in the summer and we hardly say a word to each other, just RELAX.

However, I'm not like the hardcore lot who sit in the rain and brave the weather catching nothing.

But, if you think its boring, at least try it!!

Considering i live in Plymouth, fishing is great.

I have done it all. Fishing on shoreline, boat fishing, fresh water fishing you name it. And as everyone has said above it is soooo relaxing. I may even be going after i get out of hospital, which i cant wait for.

My gran lives near a nice little pond, me and my cousin went fishing there after the wire games, caught 2 tench

does anyone know if a quarry would hold any fish!

Yeah, you do get fish in quarry's. Used to go to a quaryy all the time to fish.

Best bait for carp is boilies (IMO). Throw a handful over the area you want to fish. let them settle for a bit before you stick your hook in.

Change fishing area (location) every now and then. Once a fish has been disturbed they move away.

i do some match fishing for a club.. if on a rod then use pellets/meat/corn

I remember about 10 years ago when my Nan and Grandad (RIP!) took me to Ibiza for a holiday (best holiday of my life! - quiet part of Ibiza btw...) and we went fishing off a rock in the sea. We caught the most ugliest fish I have ever seen - spikes, god ugly face and a propper gnarled body, anyways a local came over looking dead worried and gestured us to cut the line panick stricken this guy was!! So we did.

Still don't know what the hell that fish was, only a little thing as well. Maybe some strange dog fish, but they're harmless.
