Resetting is there mainly to prevent users to delete (deactivate) their accounts and create a new one just to have fresh stats.
The goal of the reset is then to have exactly the same effect of creating a new user, but by keeping the current user.
That's why it deletes all the stats, just as creating a new user would do.
