Check my profile. My rank is exactly 900 on arcade right now yet I'm classed as "Professional" and not "Virtuoso".

I don't mind, but surely that's not right? I thought once someone reaches 900 they are under the "Virtuoso" category?

On my Funkysnooker home page under the "targets" heading:

"Arcade: You need just 0.0 more ranking points to become a Virtuoso"

Thats unberlievable, maybe the game rounded it up to 900.0 so its registerd at 899.9 I have no idea at all!

Still weird though, I won't play ranked games until I drop to 899 so maybe somebody can figure out what happened in the meantime.

Hehe, this was discussed a short time ago on pool and does crop up occasionally.

The game calculates ranks to two decimal points, but only displays to one, hence the anomaly you are seeing.

General opinion was that moving the calculations to one decimal point would solve the problem. Any opinions?

Yeah I'd be up for the one decimal point idea, although this is probably so rare that it's not very important.

It has happenned before. Your not the first.

Like said above, you could be anything between 899.95 to 899.99. So you aint become a virtuoso yet. We never used to have the one decimal point and there was talk of adding 2 decimal places to show.

I think one is fine. Its accurate enough. It is very rare this happens. One more ranked win will make you virtuoso.

Being 899.5 could only be rounded to 899.6 if the 2nd decimal is higher than 5. So the numbers rounded to 900 are 899.95, 899.96, 899.97, 899.98, 899.99. A very small probability really.

Yep, has happened to me before, but i was 800.0. It said I was adept. Pretty weird really.

Another (similar )example just happened to me:

Your ranking must be 550.0 to 750.0 to enter this room (you have 750.01)

I've had this before...

Its usually a case of decimal places...

Your rank should be 900.00 but its something like 899.94 Thus causing your rank to still be professional

I think that the best solution for this is that the algorithm which decides what category (Virtuoso, Professional, ...) you belong to should simply use the rounded value, instead of the exact value as it does now.

The same applies for the game targets: it should use the rounded values.

This would work whatever rounding the system uses, and would guarantee that all displayed values are consistent.
