just played a final of snooker tournament and was 1-1 and came down to the final colours. Even though i lost i think its ridiculous that because the final ball was potted seconds after the time limit was up the guy i played doesnt get a tournament win. I agree there should be a limit in prior rounds but in the final - no ones waiting for us to finish?!

i may have missed a reason for this but cant think of one.....

i have to agree with yiu there u_a_c, there should be NO time limit in final as you said no-one is waiting to play in the next round so we should be allowed as long as we want,we should be allowed to have the option to play safe instead of knowing we have to rush due to time limit, so nick i am hoping you will look into u_a_c opinion and maybe put it into place

Your right , but what would stop players just wasting time on purpose plating safety shots constantly and not conceding waiting until their opponent leaves? You would deffo get players trying it. Buta no-limit would be good as like you say you don't have to rush , but realistically the above reasons i have stated would probably blown the idea out of proportion??

I think ste has a good point. I agree that time limit could be increased instead of unlimited. However, as ste stated above, such players would take advantage of the feature against primary will. We would need to work around it.

and i think that ste's got a point but the type of people who might do that are normally weeded out earlier in the tournament. or maybe im just naive.

If there was no time limit....

Couldn't the opposing player (if they are being beat at that point) take his time and perhaps not play a shot for a long period so the other player will leave, and they will be awarded the game if they leave...

I know i would get edgy if the opposing player was taking 15-20 mins per shot and would inevitibly leave... Unless I cleared up which is unlikely for me :-)

I think a time limit is good and fair and would agree to increase it to 30-40 seconds perhaps.

At the end of the day, whoever is winning, even as time runs out is the worthy winner. Afterall, you can't do anything when you opposing player is at the table and if they are potting, it's your fault for letting them in surely...
