Firstly, where does it say that not enough apply?
Secondly, if this site needs more mods, only people who have no offences against them and what they think are suitable people. Only then you can have a chance.
Not saying you don't, but just making my point.

Its Quite simple the solution to this issue. The moderating promotion method currently is daft.
There are at least ten girls and guys on here that would make good mods that are around a lot.
(I am aware some may not want to be, they are examples)
To Name but a few:
YJ (obviously)
leesil- Been turned down before- crazy
heart_beat
lfc_lad- does more to help this site than most
dgeneratio- funky ambassador
fester2007- been around a long time
My point being is that there is lots of active people that are put off applying due to a long and lets be honest, tedious application process.
So what about this, at the end of each month, each current moderator puts in reccomendations to nick. From there nick could check how often they are online etc and also whether they have been well behaved. Maybe you need at least two moderators to recommend you to stop the potential problem of just nominating friends.
Then Nick, could send an email or offline message to the member, asking if they are interested in moderating and what it entails etc.
Then its up to the member if they would like to, this would also enable us to keep the current application process in case someone is accidentally overlooked by a mod.
God im clever sometimes

Your right, iamtheworst didnt say that... although im sure that asking someone if they've applied suggests he thinks there should be more or that he thinks us non-mods should try take it into out own hands?

Just to clarify what was already said, game ability has absolutely zero to do with being a staff member.
If you have any doubts, have a look at my profile
I'm going to cap this as, for the same reasons mentioned on the moderation application page for not messaging staff members, forum suggestions will only lead to having an adverse effect on any applicant.
The current system was, very recently remeber, put into place so that everyone is equally eligible, be they the most well known and best member on the site, to someone with a rank of 550 who no-one has ever heard of.
Fitting the criteria is all that matters
Lets not forget its not long ago that there were only around 5 moderators across both sites.
Also - to reiterate the initial advice, if you see something that bothers you, use the send complaint button and it will be dealt with.
After all, no matter how many mods are online, they can;t act on something they don't see
Edit2 - for claification - quite a few of the corrent moderators on both sites are there because they were suggested by current mods, so the suggestion above is already, and always has been, in place.
