tut tut tut you trying to delete evidence that you dont want found

one method that may work is to defragment your harddrive.

i am open to correction on this method but it cant hurt to do. degragmenter is located in administrative tools in control panel

Honestly mate I just use a file sherdder becuase I have files that I can do without people seeing so I use a shredder that way the file breaks down and the shredder removes it all for you

You can always give that a go

Note: Just let you no sometimes a file can not be deleted normally due to the fact it is being used else where,
For example: You open hello.doc and try delete it you won't be able to becuase its being used by another user or program

Files are never deleted. They will remain unseen on the harddrive until overwritten. Thats why you can always get a file back that you accidently deleted. If you have the right software. Si's shredding prob removes the file completly. Never heard of it before.

Defrag wouldnt hurt, but i dont think it will solve your problem. Try it and see though.

Other option would be to get a file scan program to scan all files inactive/corrupt. Remove them this way. Such software you would have to research yourself.

Thanks for replies,

I tried to use my shredder to get of them a few days ago but they only appear when I'm selecting files for something online, so don't appear

Im not quite following here, are you saying when you choose to upload a file, deleted files are still in the folder you open to upload from?

What do you mean by selecting files for something online? Are you using an FTP client? What browser are you using? Are you using a program to manage your files? Are you using a program to manage your hard disks?

Try using "unlocker" and if that fails "evidence eliminator", manually delete the file from the folder it appears in.

It's fixed now lol A really, really simple solution . The problem was when uploading files, SOME deleted files appeared where they were deleted from long ago, and SOME folders containing deleted files appeared where they were deleted from long ago also.

I meant for example, when you choose to upload a profile image for funkysnooker, the select box that comes up, they would appear for example in My Documents, but in my actual My Documents they're not there.

I've got FS to thank for fixing it really lol, on any other site that i upload files, other than photobucket, I can't right click on the files, well on some I can right click but the normal options don't appear, so I went to the photo uploader on here and tried to delete them and voila . It took a while to go through every location that had deleted stuff but I think I got everything.

Thanks guys sorry for wasting time, unless this problem happens with someone else then it's useful. .

You might have found that clearing your browser history/windows temp files would have cleared the thumbnail cache too

Cool its sorted though, always good to have a thread with a solution

Just throw you Hard Drive away

Burn it or something

That will get rid of the evidence
