Hi,
When a player has a long name, e.g. AndyMurphy, the display cuts short their score to allow for their name. In my opinion the score is of greater significance, and as such it seems to me that it would be better to cut short the players name.
Please consider.

Honestly, I think that it's just a silly idea. Cutting down long names continuously would only help making it a mess. Same thing for spreading the same reminder throughout the whole site like blutch said when I discussed about putting a reminder on the pages where you choose a thread to view, reminding users to perform a forum search before creating a thread.

I don't see why its a silly idea. Its basically only a cosmetic change to the game. I agree that the score is important and in the game, the full username doesn't have to be shown and thus allowing the score to be shown.

I don't even think the names should be cut off instead, as this would still look messy.

Maybe a new layout would sort it out. Where the score and the players names are on different lines.

Something like:

-- 129 ------------- 0 --
damee VS bak2biscuits

Current break: 129
Last ball potted: Brown (or a image brown coloured ball)

(I put damee's name in bold to show that he is currently at the table)

The writing for current break and last ball potted doesn't need to be as big as the score and the players names.

wouldnt just widening the box that says

0:20 0 (0) damee vs bak2biscuits (0) 0

so that its wider across the top solve this problem?

The layout i've suggested has no intention of decreasing the table size. For example the current break and last ball potted font size only really needs to be the size of a ball on original each.

To be honest, i don't see why the box isn't widened or the writing slightly smaller.

Don't cut short user's long names. It's a bad idea.
