Just a little idea i thought of.

Say if my username, flame_potter, was inactive for a certain amount of time, it could be deleted from the database, therefore being able to be used by somebody else, because i know myself, that there are some very good usernames that are barely active.

my last login on my old account was 03/08/08 yet it won't let me take my old account back, its over a year old so....

Strange. It should be the case that a message is sent out at 11 months from last activity, and if the user does not login within a month, the account expires.

Thanks for pointing those out, there may be a problem the system. It's not something immediately obvious after all

But im just pointing out, if the username could be fully wiped out after say 6 months, because surely you would know if the user is not using that account again.

i think if the account has been deactivated or banned etc, the name should be released but not for unused accounts
