Liam (hope I got that right) is right. It was actually invented by a little known man back in 1943. While this mans pub was getting bombed, he had to make himself as small as possible to avoid being hit. As luck would have it, he had a deformity that gave him an extremely thin head. Instead of aiming like normal snooker players, he would rest the side of his head on the cue while aiming.
The brain deformity this man had meant he didn't actually realise the power of the bombs and was subsequently blown apart, but not before the story of the Tilted Head snooker player got out!

Actually this is merely a myth, the original exponent of the head tilting snooker player was passed down by his mother Tilly "The Tilter" Taylor. This was back in 1921, but passed on to her son in 1936.

Again just a myth it was Jackington Poshboy who created the head tilt in 1836, when looking upon a poor peasant and checking if he was human, he tilted his head to make sure, FACHT

can you prove he was the first ever player to tilt his head when playing a shot?
of the 24000 players currently active he was the first?
