just thought it throw this idea up.

would it be fairer if you dont get a shot in your game to lose a lower rank than usual.

yes i like this idea

if someone gets a 107 off the break and you dont have a shot, it would be better if you didnt lose as much rank because you havnt played a shot

another good idea lee

i like the idea however, it does require a little bit of skill to clear the table so i unsure.

yeah i know its not very nice watching the opponent shoot all game long, so maybe we can come up with something...

i always like the idea of run outs, like on pool ... if you can somehow clear the table then you deserve one on your profile

I like it the way it is, in all fairness everybody will have the chance to clear up of the break even I have done it 3/4 times but if your on form you deserve the maximum number of points because if you lost 1 point from me clearing up then it will be changed so the winner only gets around 1/2 points for doing it

But if this was added, it would also throw up the question about losing because you got on snookered off the break shot and he cleared after that.

If you lose by 1 point or 147 points, it's still a loss at the end of the day.

Not a bad idea though, just a few big flaws with it.

you would still have had a shot though in attempting to get out of the snooker.

isnt snookering your opponent from the break and clearing the general principle of the game?

I think this is a fair point to be honest. If someone does clear against me, then fair play to them, it's very hard to do so, so I have a lot of admiration for anyone who manages it. However, you shouldn't be penalised for turning up, pressing 'yes' and not getting a shot. Interesting point, and I'm sure the general consensus will be split.

Edit: spelling mistake and bad grammar, poor.

I don't agree on a number of levels.

If your opponent misses, you will just flag instead of going for the snookers, it could be easily manipulated.

It would throw off the current ranking system.

If you lose, you lose, you?re the loser. If anything losing by 147 points should cost you more points than losing by 1 point, then you are truly unlucky, however if you lose you lose, making you the loser, if that?s by 1 point or 147.

Regarding the effect on rank points, no, the system works well and a win is a win as far as the_kop says.

However, I agree that a note should be made on a profile like a runout in pool. More stats never hurt anyone and encourage people to stick with one account for longer periods.

What would help most is the oft suggested (and brought up again recently) "early concede" button, so that a losing player can concede gracefully and leave to play another game while their opponent is on a break.
