Here goes, I just thought of this idea i dont know if you will like it but what if we had an "average break today" example, say if I hit 4 halfs in a day and all of them were about 55 my average break would be about 55 (the server will have to do the maths lol) I think this is good because it shows how good your break building is. it would only count 50+ break though

thourghts please

(sorry if theres any spelling mistakes)

How does it determine how good a break builder you are? You could have two lucky breaks of 90 odd, which on arcade isn't too rare and that would give you a good average but not reflecting the break building itself. It's a good idea to see how good someone is at break building but until there's an idea to actually show it then this makes no sense.

Well if you hit a 90 break and then hit a 50 break I would say the average would be about 70+ which means youve hit a good break that day If you get me

Great idea bud. It would have to say from how many breaks you have had though i think. Cos u could hit two 140's and ur average would be 140 if u didnt play anymore.

ahh good point, we could sort that out by having average half and average cent

A half is a half regardless of it being 50 or 99. A Century is a century regardless of it being 100 or 147. I can't see why this is at all needed?

Also, you could have a 80 break where you've had little work to do as the balls have been open. Or you could have a 50 break where the balls have been awkward and it has taken great skill, precision to develop these balls into potable positions. So in my view. A 50 break like that would indicate better break biulding than a higher break which involved little thought. If you understand my point.

would a possible way to do this that takes into account lucky high breaks be to use the median instead of the mean average? (basic maths required to understand that). That would mean if a player had 5 breaks in the 20s and 1 in the 80s, their median would be in the 20s, but if they had a well balanced range from say 20 to 120 then it would be about 70, which would reflect their ability to build a break.

Obviously in the first situation the player with that one high break would still have it recognised in the "highest break today", however it would pull up the mean average to around 35/36 and as was pointed out that wouldnt be a good reflection of a players abilities.

Clearly to work properly a minimum break to be counted would have to be used as there would be likely to be a lot more small breaks than large ones, especially on difficult tables.

I don't know how easy that would be to do computing wise but the maths isnt difficult.

You could possibly do it this way?

Cents Made: 20
Average Century Break: 125

Half Centurys Made: 50
Average Half Century Break: 70

Or something like that?

And i personally like the idea
