Time Limits when taking shots

Why is it that when my time runs out to take my shot I get a penalty for it, but if my opponent runs out of time it just freezes? Can anyone explain please?

its because there computer or your computer is running behind,

they still actually have the same amount of time.

its a time lag. the exact same happens on the other persons screen when your time runs out.
it just takes a few seconds to reach your screen when they receive the random shot

My opponents never get random penalties though lol Even when it says they are not responding

thats because they will of taken the shot in time

but the information is not recieved to your computer at that exact point so it will look like they had a longer time

The shot timer is independent on each persons computer. It is only a guide on the opponents shot. If the opponent is lagging or disconnected, then it allows the opponent to reconnect and take the shot. An automatic random shot is taken when the time runs out on their machine
