When you are in any room and you try to scroll back up the chat to read something if you missed it, or to check a score of a game it is impossible with the current set up.

every time there is an announcement, somebody says something or a result (if option is turned on), the chat jumps back down to the bottom.

it should be locked to the position you have scrolled to. This should be easy to do as it was done in the members bar a few months ago with the names of those in the room. Everytime a new person entered, it scrolled back up to the top, now however it stays where you scroll to.

This is deliberate, I assume, so you do not miss any announcements (as some people complained about before).

If you want to read back a bit without too many interruptions, just create a private room and read away there to your hearts content

that isnt really a suitable solution though.

Announcements still happen, tournament results still happen which all mean the chat jumps back down.

I cant accept that people missing announcements is a valid reason for it not to be changed. The announcements should still be there when you scroll back down to the bottom again. Simple matter of reading the ones that occured from when you started scrolling up.

And if you are in the middle of a conversation and loads of people are talking, its hard to see everything, leaving the room to read everything then coming back to reply is a bit ridiculous! Who knows what you will have missed in the mean time.

On another note, it would help moderators too. Unless the ability to scroll up unaffected is already in place for them, I dont know that.

I'll give you an example. A user was booted by a moderator. The user logged in with another account. There was a few comments made in the members bar laughing at the person for being booted. Another user made a comment along the lines of "i think booted person is back with another account" and was promptly booted because the moderator did not read the conversation that had occured (possibly because he was unable to scroll up to do so because people were continually posting).
The innocent user was booted more than likely for several hours as is the punishment for "multi-using" for no reason.

That situation doesn't happen though as mods have their ways to see.

But why not just simply have the option for it to scroll back down or not? Problem solved.

Why not just add a feature such as...expanding the pm box allowing a good old chin wag...with no interuptions.

basically its a pain in the arggghhh

if it was sorted it would make things easier , it can be a right pain sometimes your trying to play a game and someone speaking , trying to concentrate and scroll to read wat was said haha impossible.
