Seen it under my results, just wondering what is Edge Modification?

Its the...ranking calculation process or something pal.

I cant remember what it is tbh hah!


Ohhh, I think its where...if your in a room 750-950 limits...and a player falls below 750...or goes above 950...the edge modification comes into play.


And basically mate...I think its justs the reduction of points won when beating a lower ranked opponent, its to make it harder to reach a very high rank.

But I could very well be wrong

if you below 600 or above 900 the edge modification comes into play.

<600 = dont lose as many points and your opponent doesnt gain as many

>900 = you dont gain many points but you can lose them as much as you could before.

If this was drawn on a graph the lines would never meet the two limits (500.00 and 1000.00) it would just tend towards the infinity.

Imagine you are cutting a piece of paper and you keep cutting it and cutting it. You can never fully get rid of it it but you will become increasingly close to doing so as is if you were trying to achive a 1000.00 ranking.

All i can say is when your at about 970, it becomes near impossible to get points

It used to be that the ranking points were much higher per game and so the edge modification only really began to have a noticable effect when players reached the high 990's I remember sean_paul and curtis were among them. Now ranking points have been reduced in theory it sohuld be harder still to obtain such high ranks but players like yourself peggi and destiny have come through and so the pattern isnt followed quite so easily.

If you come to pool it's harder still I would say the equivalent to a 990 is a 960-70 on pool and with "luck" playing more of a key role in games it is much harder to build up rank at this point.
