An idea just hit me when looking through the forum, seeing all the capped threads that have been mentioned timeless amounts.

Thiese threads could be easily prevented.

When making a thread, it automatically goes onto the forum. If this was changed to a system where the thread needs to be authorised by a member of staff, then they could reject silly threads that have A, been mentioned before and B, cause arguments. Would also be able to identify if the user has put the thread in the correct place.

Will be useful I feel and would stop all the Tom, Diick & Harrys' posting nonsense threads.

No ironic jokes about me making a thread about threads!

Just an idea, doing my bot to help out the community

And beat up wives.

You will get goodish feedback from members who like to complain about poor posts

Bad Feedback by members who like to post rubbish.

And moderators will say they have enough to do.

Which is rubbish. Its hardly a hectic job

Think it is a good idea in principle, cos some of these threads are rubbish and end up being capped. Which looks a right mess.

Would prefer threads to be deleted rather than capped tbh.

Exactly my point, its far to messy and seems pointless.

You only have to look at the sports pages aswell as most others, to see laughable subjects mentioned "Arsenal 2-1 Barca" is just one of them, one of many.

If it would go to a 'staff inbox' for authorisation, then they could accept or decline. It wouldnt be a lenghtly process and im sure the staff wouldnt mind. There could be a set list of reasons to why it was rejected that could be pre written to save any hassle for staff also.

I think its a good idea

I think it's a very good idea!
And in terms of extra work for staff, I can't see it being much different to accepting/rejecting user pictures...which doesn't take any time at all!

i do think that it would end up being quite lengthy though as mods arent all that active apart from baff but seeing as it is only the creation of the thread being authorised it doesnt really matter when it comes up

Overall I can see the merits of this and as Mr M says it isn't much extra work.

Virt, I can see your point as well, it would slow things down tremendously dependant on Mod activity at any given time.

One particular example of where this idea wouldn't work is:-

Someone can't log in to game and requires help (which other members could be able to give) but their thread can't be verified 'till a Mod comes on, maybe a couple of hours later - that would be problem.

I think the idea of deleting capped threads, is a much better one. It takes the same time as verifying a thread and tidies up the forums at the same time.

I also believe if people ruin threads by picking people up on silly spelling mistakes and arguing about pointless things there would be less capped threads in the 1st place.

Again all of this depends on how much time the Staff team are able to put in - Maybe we need more Mods.......... perhaps specific forum Mods ? But that's a different thread

I agree with whats been said and like the idea, but as grae said if people didnt pick on faults and silly comments threads would be ok.... threads are dying off because people cant comment without someone saying something back which maybe offensive or asking why them are posting to much!

But like lee said it be no extra work for Mods. Alot of active Staff, but if people searched the forum more they would see a similar post to there topic!

You wouldnt need a thread to point out an error. There are various threads that can be used to point out errors of logging in aswell as other pressing matters.

Could always have a thread for urgent matters But forum moderation is fairly simple and if the numbers are too small for the staff, then it would be a good idea to have forum mods. People who know how to use the forum etc.

Deleting capped threads is also something that should be invented. Also archived threads that are out of use and dont get viewed, threads that have been resolved should be scrapped!

I have slight OCD so, I get carried away :$.

You are suggesting that there are various threads and also implying people should search the forums before posting "silly threads". Then you contradict yourself by saying old threads should be deleted meaning if people did search for the answer to their problem it wouldnt exist and they may not have known it has been spoken about several times.

I agree with your overall idea in principle though that there should be some sort of filtering process to eradicate silly threads.
Maybe the rules of posting should be more strongly implemented. Everybody agrees to the rules when they sign up but there is very little punishment for disobeying the rules.

If there issue isn't covered or if they can't post as the thread is too old, what would they do then ?

After all with the "introduction" of Forum Moderators they could soon clear them up and delete them

Would this be an already existing thread that you can ask for help on ? If so that is a good way round the urgent issues
This is where we could do with a "like" button

This can already be done and if Forum Moderators ( 1 or 2 per forum) were introduced it could be acheived quite easily and it would satisfy your OCD Derry

For example... If I made a thread....such as this one I made...

If it was then used and may so threads need to be autorised....then delete this thread. As it is already in affect and if someone was to post this subject then it would be declined as its already in working order.

If someone made a thread saying Carom break needs to be changed....if it was then changed so you cant hit cushion first, then delete the thread.

If the member of staff doesnt know if its been mentioned in the past, then it can always be accepted, to then later on be deleted anyway.

Love all the quotes about me... im still suffering from alcohol abuse here so sorry if im a little scratchy on my meanings

I talk too much
