How about instead of all these wonderful ideas that will never, ever get implemented, we have the proper rules of snooker?

I mean its ridiculous that the engine cant work out if it is TOUCHING a red ball, but can work out what ball it hit first!??? What sense does that make??

Also things like, Re-rack, and god knows how many other rules that just aint here.

So come on nick, i know your busy, aint we all, but really, really, this is ridiculous

I remember nick saying about the touching ball rule that if he added it then due to the way the game is written, there is an infinitely small chance of 2 balls actually touching, basically it's impossible. What looks like touching ball generally isn't. So that rule will never come in.

Very much doubt it to be honest. If touching ball occurred what you actually do? Swing the white round a couple of cushions and hope you snooker them? Fair play if ya did but power would have to be spot on.

Couple of thoughts.

If the system could tell a touching ball it would also have to be able to distinguish that you don't actually hit the touching ball when taking the shot, may add even more complexity to writing the prog.

As for tapping, if you haven't got a shot are you just expected to smash the pack?

I do try to pay into the pack firmly hoping to push reds out on the blind side but I'm certainly not going to smash the pack against high ranked players - suicidal imo.

Far more irritating is laying a very good snooker only for your opponent to play with no real attempt to get out of the snooker as it would be expensive.

I know you can put them in again but this isn't a snooker and they can 'tap' up.

I will always play fair and attempt to escape from snookers but there's no way, without a ref, of calling a miss on those who make no attempt.

You will never get all the rules of snooker and as said before this is a 'fun' on-line game and as that I think it's pretty good.

Could this be an easier option.

Would it be possible for the software to recognize if there hasn't been a ball potted in say 12 shots and automatically re-rack.

Players would know there is a shot count and may be encouraged to open the game up.

Usually I am an attacking minded player.... so much so that I am certain I lose more frames than I should, because I can't bear to tap in to the reds.

However, I have also taken part in some great tactical safety play, where both players have clipped open reds, and found safety behind the baulk colours for several shots on end.

The addition of such a "rule" would, in my opinion, be detrimental to true safety play (as opposed to tapping).
