Would it be possible to have a notes field against each individual in the friends page?

This could be useful when adding people to complete clan games, or when you have added someone but for the life of you cant remember why.

It will also aid in categorising friends into clan members, good guys, arcade tournament etc...

What do you think? Is this just a problem for me because I have the memory of a fish?

I think it's a great idea !

But I don't think it's high on the list of priorities if at all, as similar things have been mentioned many times before and nothing has been done.
