Liverpool, Everton and Birmingham defender and legend has lost his battle with his long term illness at the age of 46.

From what I have read he is the only player to win the FA cup with both Liverpool and Everton, true legend around these parts.

Thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.

Yes it is very said indeed, great player and great lad. Remember shaking his hand when the ressies used to play at Warrington, he had a lot of time for the fans, and vice versa.

He had a short spell as a coach at Ipswich in 2010 before being taken ill on the training ground. We had a minute's applause for him before the game with Forest last Saturday.
