killer newbie status

why is that you have to play 50 games to lose newbie status unlike the other game type's which is 30?

I'm not certain on this but does a 3 man count as 2 games? I think if you win an n-man then you get n-1 wins, but not sure if games work like that? If they do then it may explain it, if not then I have no idea!
