how does it work out who goes 1st on the black when all balls have been potted and its 61-61? ive won and lost on a black ball respot but when your 27 behind with all the colours and you pot them all to draw the game and then lose coz you get your shot taken away its a little bit annoying. not so much in games but in tournaments especially against players who are 100rank points ahead of you annoys me even more.

It's chosen randomly, as per 'real snooker' rules

a coin toss would be better then after the random pick it asks you if you want to 'play' or 'pass' instead of forcing someone to play

should be set up again and if some1 dont wanna play then they lose. its like playing football for 120 and losing on penalties. 1 kick or 1 pot to decide a game. bit mince!

In the rules of Snooker, there is a coin toss to decide who plays for the black first, however in real life, it's much harder to pot the black off the spot from the baulk!
The game randomly chooses who goes first, just like a coin toss, we can't change this.
While I understand that it is rather easy to pot the black from the baulk on the game, you've just got to suck it up.
What difference does it make if you've made a clearance to draw or not? It doesn't give you any form of "right" to be the first one to play.

Exactly my point - you and your opponent both have an equal chance of being the first one to play. It doesn't matter if you were leading or came from behind to draw.
The game has to be decided some way, the computer randomly decides who goes first, just like a coin toss in real life.

What about your opponant when he/she leads then ends up losing because you get the first shot on the respot?

I have wondered if it would be fairer if neither player could pot on their first shot, be a bit more realistic. Only worry is that it would just end in tapping.

A) Everyone would just tap.
B) It's so tough to leave it safe that it would actually turn it into an advantage for the player losing the coinflip.

When this issue was first brought up there was a lot of enthusiasm about having a rule for a tie on the black that matched real snooker. Looking at the relatively small number of negative comments, it would still seem that the majority are in favour of keeping it.... just thought I'd bring up the original thread as a comparison: http://www.funkysnooker.com/thread/6670/rules-problem-on-final-black/1

In real snooker after toss you get to elect if you play or pass which is missing here (same for breakoff for example if i won toss in Arcade i would probably pass to opponent).
I remember Adam suggesting making cursor bigger for long and cushion pot. For example on a 10 foot table, anything over 5 foot (or two thirds) could be a long pot therefore the cursor would be bigger.
Would cut out the lazy positional shots as well. For example from Black to Yellow tapping it in would be long pot therefore on Original cursor could be made like Arcade. This would make you work to get close positional shots and makes breakoff worthwhile as well.
Would bring a new challenge to the game and hopefully this is considered in future on a new type, maybe Snooker Plus on Orig table?

Actually I think that was someone else's idea haha. My idea was restricting the cursor range to a fixed radius around the white, so for any short pots, you could line them up as now, but it would be harder to pot long pots as you couldnt put the cursor next to the ball. No-one liked it .

Also no one mentioned it yet but if you don't want a respot try for a snooker

Free ball rule would make that much more tempting!

yup at same you only need 1 snooker to avoid a respot i think.
