1. Arcade doubles tournament, a player gets randomly paired with another player.

2. Pairs play each other and the losing partner goes out and the 2 winners then pair up.

When the final comes around, 2 pairs left and both players play each of the opposite pair in a first to 2 and the team with the most wins i.e 7-1, 6-2

Seems a good idea to me. Some sort of doubles would be a great addition, I remember a discussion about an alternate shot doubles thing a while ago as well. The only issue was how ranking would work, which could be an issue here too.

But doubles would be great to have, especially if you got drawn with sean or tyler or someone for the final. If it was popular then I'm sure there would be scope to expand it to other game types too.

Have a flat ranking system, such as

600 beats 800 - +7.5 and -7.5
700 beats 800 - +5.5 and -5.5
800 beats 800 - +3.0 and -3.0
800 beats 600 - +1.5 and -1.0
800 beats 700 - +2.5 and -2.5
700 beats 600 - +2.5 and -2.0
700 beats 700 - +3.0 and -3.0
600 beats 600 - +3.0 and -3.0
600 beats 700 - +5.5 and -5.5

So just do rank on each individual match, not on the pair's score? Yeah that could work.

This is a good idea although i think trying to get the ranking system to work around it could be a bit difficult although Nick might be able to do it

Good idea but won't be done, everyone knows this.

Doubles has been brought up for ages, actually years on pool and it is never looked at and hardly acknowledge. I think Nick has the brain and know how to do it but i think the amount of time needed to implement something like this could take a while.

It would be nice to have though as it could replace some of the dumb micro tournaments.

Well i cant see it being difficult to implement anyway. Singles tournaments a random fixtures anyway.

There are WAY too many arcade tournaments and getting rid of a few of those and replacing them with regular, power or carom tournaments would be a better idea.

Even if there is something like a holiday tournament i.e

Easter tournament
May Day tournament

Something like the memorial tournaments but for points.

Maybe we should just make a thread with every idea from the past 2 years and then have a vote on which one is the best idea...
