Good evening guys. My name's Shotkill, to be honest I'm not a great player but I have a great idea.

I think that once a year just like in real life Funkysnooker should host the Funkysnooker World Championship Tournament. We could advertise for the week leading up to the Tournament, so people can sign up to it. Having played on another Snooker game that did this, I know it was very popular and the place seemed to be buzzing when this Tournament came by. I think their would be alot of interest in this Tournament and just imagine the new feature that tell's you who's in the Tournament final, " FUNKYSNOOKER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL " . Just an idea but earlier rounds could be bo3 and increase through the Tournament. I'm expecting for people to take the mickey out of this idea but I really do think it would be massive if implemented properly. PS: Could be a section on the Site listing the World Championship winners through the years..

It's a good idea but you should have had a look trough the events forum first. There have been numerous attempts at a FS World Championship, including mine, but there doesn't seem to be much interest at all. I had to ask everyone and got 9 players out of it, one probs not even playing.

By the way a year is a long time for a game like this.

Nobody is going to take the 'mickey', certainly not me. It's a great idea, but very difficult to implement and control if done via the normal method, i.e. via thread and one or two people owning/controlling it, getting people together and play and post results etc.

Super tourns or championships should be made part of the core coding for funky I feel... and play out over a matter of months to a grand final.... i.e. have funky decide the rounds, send the invites out and a method of collecting results... all autonomously, taking away the need for manual intervention.

But hey mate, if you want to give it a try, go for it, why not.

If you get it working right, and it pans out..I WILL JOIN!

I'm not saying that I want this to be another Unofficial version like in Clan Forum etc, as Stormforce said I feel as this should be made part of the core coding for funky. WinWin82, yes you are right a year is a long time on this game, but funkysnooker could coincide with the real life tour. Example: If the Welsh open is on in real life, then it's the welsh open on funky!

I think in theory it's a very good idea and would generate a lot of interest if it was run by the machine, rather than individual members.
Just thinking about the practical aspects though-

1. There would need to be a page where you can register and unregister (maybe a 1-week registration period with the "join" button at the bottom when you log in).

2. Messages with the opponent would have to be sent automatically. Give each round a 1-week deadline and when both players are online, they would automatically get an invite from funky as in current tournaments?

3. Maximum one event per year per game type to make sure it stays a special event.

I think this would be doable on nick's side and would promote the idea that tournaments are funky's main focus.

yeah could work like this...

every 3 months a special tournament appears. if you do extreme frames like real thing then could do it in sessions so you dont play too many at once.

UK Championship - Arcade
Masters Championship - Regular
World Championship - Original

these could have triple or quadruple rank at stake since its a bigger event

Nothing is being done that everyone has actually asked for, never seen someone ask for our posts to be highlighted when we first post it... makes no sense that to be fair.

The only reason some things got done was because the staff brought it up. It is called a pecking order and we are right down the bottom premium or not premium.

Think about the amount of messages from people that you get as a league runner. Now imagine the amount of stuff he gets as a site runner. No wonder he won't answer everyone.

Recent changes have been very useful! Moving cue ball after foul, tournament final alerts, etc.

But anyway, this is an idea that has tremendous potential I think.
Even if it's just one tournament per year.
