No sound running funkysnooker through Linux

funkysnooker is mysteriously silient when running through Mint 15 linux platform.
I get sound when watching news broadcasts on BBC and checking computer sound settings show sound is working ok.
Checked with another linux user and same problem on his set up.
Any ideas why this is happening?

You checked that "allow sound" is ticked in the in-game options?

Hi Matt, Yes, 'Allow Sound' is checked.
