As has been stated on this thread before, you can't expect people to downgrade and risk the stability and security of their systems just to play a game.
Plus, of course, most Java based sites, especially corporate systems such as servitor, require version 8.40 as a minimum.
Why not post a helpful solution rather than one that is impractical.

Well stop playing then or people stop moaning if you disconnect in tournaments. Downgrading is my solution and helped others. If people choose to stick to new java then don't blame the player if you disconnect, blame the java your using.
Until Nick or Admins post 100% Java Fix then i'll continue suggesting to downgrade

Hey mates, i have the same problem too..
Tonight I joined the Original Marathon Tournament, we were in 2: me and Hutch1971. As soon as the final started, a pop-window appeared, saying "do you want to run this application...etc" and the game suddenly crashed...and obviously i was disqualified from the tourny... it's the 2nd time that this happened to me.
I have 1.8.0_66 Java version on Windows 8.1, isn't this version good?
(I'm italian but I hope you guys understood my English)

funky snooker staff20:55 11/01/16 Please can you detail your Java setup? These can be found by visiting:
http://www.funkysnooker.com/help#playing_problemsmorse16:10 12/01/16 1.144.97.11 It only happens when playing Tornament gamesfunky snooker staff21:54 12/01/16 Ah ok we know that one. it freezes when you are down to play a premium member. It's something we have been trying to fix for a while with limited success. If you go back to an earlier Java it does stop it freezing. you need to delete your current java completely then download java7 update 51.
then try.

adminmorse22:14 12/01/16 1.144.97.11 Is it safe to install previous or older versions of Java?
Oracle highly discourages users from using older versions of Java. Installing old and supported versions of Java on your system presents a serious security risk. Upgrading to the latest version of Java ensures that Java applications will run with the most up-to-date security and performance improvements on your system. You can confirm that you have the latest version on the verification

There is a security risk installing older versions (i have Java 8 Update 31) but question is, would you rather risk a security risk or keep disconnecting in tournaments? for me security wins (as i rarely enter tournaments) but with all problem i have heard with new java version i would rather stick with a version i know works.
If you prefer security then everytime you enter a tournament you run the risk of disconnecting, If you prefer a working java (8u31) then you do get more security bugs (not sure what they are) but no more disconnects in tournaments.
Depends how much you like/enter tournaments

Can i just say that the java issues have nothing to do with hutch1971.
I am like him old school well not that old but near.
He is running a old version of java the same as me & whenever i play him i dont get the issue with the freezing screen.
So what you do is get a older version of java.

If your not running W7 then tough
And if that dont work then ask your wife/partner can you borrow a pair of her knickers to wear around the house

Just to reconfirm what I said to morse.....
We cannot fix this problem at the moment. IF you want to continue playing the game without issues, downgrade java to older version. That is your choice and yours only.
That is the only advice we can give until the problem either goes away by itself or nick decides to come back....
