What has happened to Arcade Snooker?!
How has it became the norm to tap up to breaks, I remember the days of smash breaking and clearing up, that's what the big boys were really made of, ste_efc, sean_paul, ragefire to name but a few.
Nowadays I play a professionally ranked player who is tapping on the break.
Have I been gone that long that, that is how people play it now?

So sad when idiots smash the pack up at the start of a frame. Pure hit n hope. Terrible sportsmanship and no fun at all.

it shows great skill, if you pot and clear then it is won by skill, theres no skill in tapping. actual safety however i respect greatly

Seriously? Smashing the balls wide open in the hope one might roll in is showing great skill?
"tapping" as you call it, is pure skill. The cornerstone of good tactical snooker.

Yup, as you learn to smash the percentage rises in which you pot so you have more chances to clear, sure its part luck but better than tapping for an hour with no reds moved.
tapping means moving mouse by 1 pixel to rest on a ball, no skill in that.
i prefer safeties where you try and get into baulk or bring reds into play while leaving white safe, that is skill and a part of the game i respect.

Pro players of real snooker at the beginning play safe hit a red off the break and then get the white to baulk as safe as possible if not snookering the opponent, behind a baulk colour, which I can do quite often. I have played these players, where they smash and clear up I have also played the opposite, they smash and don't clear up. But I cannot see the problem of how people want to play their game, after all it is a game of different skill, abilities and people who just play for fun, I like to play have fun and win, and I am doing that, I am back to 735. who gives a damn lol,if we all played the same way and did exactly the same shots day in day out it would become boring.

So there is a 100% skill based system for potting a red off a break?
Or is it just a pathetic hit and hope tactic for those too stupid to play proper snooker?

not quite 100% but usually top players can do it 4 times out of 5, for me its 2 or 3 out of 5 as RNG doesn't go my way but if you watch some Golden Breaks on Pool they use a special technique to do it and more often than not if they don't get a GB they pot and have a Runout chance. Thats the success the technique gives them, more often than not will pot off the break, whether black goes depends on RNG but if it does normally you have a cent/max at your mercy.

Nothing wrong with that at all, as your trying to play actually safety, in my opinion you should only tap onto a ball if their are no other alternatives but then i find the tapping game for 10 mins where the red/white hasn't moved, thats the frustrating part about Arcade, its all tap these days as they can't bare to lose a few ranking points.

The last bit is where you are wrong. It has nothing to do with "ranking points" because unless every game played is ranked they are completely pointless, and even if that was done, what kind of moron would care about a number in an old computer game?!? LOL its madness.
Gentle tapping, moving the balls maybe a couple of pixels at a time with a proper gameplan for a finish, that is what snooker is all about. FUN!

^ You will be surprised, the number of Pros/Virts who will tap to save ranking points is unreal, it was worse years ago even though usually the top players of Arcade would smash and make maximums.
I used to care about rank, i mean i played 750 and below to get to 929.5 in Original, not proud of it but there you go. After that, i played Pros on purpose and it plummet as didn't care about Rank after that

Look mate arcade snooker has 10 reds which means the attacking snooker is used and means smashing the reds of the break with skill to either make a cent or a half, that Is the most efficient way to break in arcade. You have to be good to do this break otherwise you will miss soon and your opponent will clear up what you created.

I hate smash breaking in Arc simply because its not what snooker is about, that being said i hate tapping aswell but its so easy to pot thats why many people choose to tap. Thats about it

I like making breaks, i smash in all game types, i got respect for people who swing it around and get behind the colours, people who tap into the reds annoys me, and whats funny is half the time they leave the one on the cush that comes out, wheres the skill in that? being able to break and make a maximum has ALOT more skill, dumb af man. most of the time i play friendlies because people play with to much caution as they dont want to lose 2 points from 748 to 746, ridiculous if you ask me, game is nothing like it used to be when you had to be 930+ just to be in top 10 or nick having to make extra lobbys beacuse there were to many people online, and what is with the language with people on here these days, 4 out of 5 games i play i get "trolled" nooobs
P.s you talk about "real snooker players" playing safe of the pack, do you see any of them ever rolling in to the pack?

^ see how better it looks
can play safe in orig/reg (i go behind colours) but in arc it HAS to be a smash or it isn't Arc lol

If that is your idea of FUN you should play 8 Ball UK on Pool, fit right in with the tappers there.
I can't stand 5 minutes of tapping generally, drains my energy and motivation to play.
