Thanks to a player I wont mention, I had pink and black left for my first century (on arcade) who kindly left leaving me on 87. I am not angry, for that is not the funky way, I am a little disappointed in him though. Anyway the point of this query is to ask you (Nick) if you plan on making continued breaks a part of the game (or the upgrade) any time in the foreseeable future (if this is possible at all). Your feedback would be much appreciated, thankyou, funky_al.

Totally agree Al. The amount of times people have left on my break of 47 , 48 , 49, and stop me getting a 50 break is untrue. This applies more to Original Snooker as more hard work is involved to get good breaks.
I'm seriously considering leaving because of it, so if the option would come in to allow breaks to carry on I would stay.
Also, I don't know if it's just me but i tend to rush nearer 50 because i want to get it in so a lot of the time i rush. This is because i fear the guy will leave. Nick , consider this in your next update please!

Just happened to me. Was on a break of 59 with a good set-up to clear (all colours and two reds left).

I know this may sound harsh guys but perhaps the only way to actually get someone to do something about it is to annoy more and more people by doing it yourselves aswell.
I dont condone this at all but people have complained about others leaving breaks for a while now and nothing has been done.
The more people who complain the more chance of something being done.........so, the short term plan may bring about long term rewards......

I know where you are comin from mate but i dont think it is a good idea. Don't get me wrong, its annoying as hell but doing it yourself will only make it worse. When the upgrade comes in, its bound to be on it cos the continued break thingy is all we've been going on about for ummm....6 months!!!!
Wait to see if nick puts it in or responds to the thread before we call a ballot and go on strike!!

alright mate......fair play. I just thought a different angle may get something done. Im happy to just chase people around asking them why they do it for now.
but if its not in the next upgrade im taking action!!!!!!!!!

It's a fair point, continuing breaks *should* exist. However it's a change to the whole game framework (current logic assumes that you're playing a game with opponent or practicing).
A trivial example is if you're continuing a break after your opponent logs out and a new opponent enters the game what will happen? The server will allow an opponent to enter as you're not playing anyone.
Hence it needs new design in this area, some sort of "limbo state" where you're not playing anyone but also no one can disrupt you. Currently I do not have the time to perform custom updates on snooker, and this is likely to continue until a couple of months as other updates (beneficial to both sites) are top priority.
However it's not quite true that nothing has been done. On everyones profile there is a count of the number of abandoned games. OK, sometimes these can happen due to internet or PC problems, but this should be around or below 1%.
Maybe we should ban users who have abandoned more than 10 games and have abandoned more than 5%? I welcome everyone's input on this.
Snooker will be upgraded with all the funkypool changes soon (this week I hope) so you'll be getting user pictures and many game improvements and fixes.

i understand nicks idea bout banning people with 5% abandened games but when i first joined this site my pc for soem reason kept on logging me out, it did this for several weeks and as a result of this i have over 100 abandend games, so i think the ban may be harsh as i wud be upset if i got banned due to problems with my pc, currently at the moment the server is kicking my internet connection again but im managing to get bak online before it logs me out or this wpuld be higher....

thanks for the response nick, we do all appreciate the work that goes into the site.
about the banning users, the figures you gave are slightly harsh on the average user. Some have more irregular internet connections than others and also some people abandon the game for the benefit of their opponent if they have to do something in the 'real world'. Maybe the person could request permission to leave the table(!) and if the opponent accepts then they can leave the game with nothing added tot heir permenant record.

I also have to dissagree on the action of a ban. As it is unreliable to users with a poor internet connection or for some other reason.
I have quite a few abandoned games on my profile (mainly due to going to members bar if there is a problem) but my internet connection isn't the best.

There has to be some penalty. Anybody that leaves a game before white flag comes up should have 20 points deducted.
If you have a dodgy net connection, get it fixed.

i agree to a point cuch. maybe you lose points after so many abandons...say 5 or 10. then repeat at 20 and increase penalty each time. only thing i would say is that if you are a saddo like me and have played over 3000 games, abandoning 70 odd isnt that bad so maybe a percentage thing would work instead. jeez i dunno do whatever lol

Appreciate the feedback Nick, I think anything below 5% (1 in every 20) abandoned games is unnacceptable personally. At the end of the day regardless of how the person quits it is still just as annoying if you're on a big break!! I propose to you a compromise....
I think the funky players should be aloud to use the contact us facility and add a new section under complaint type where you can report anyone who leaves on a big break. Then the moderators can keep a tally of people who leave on big breaks (and those who leave on small breaks) and deal with the people who they feel are regular offenders on an individual basis!!! Okay this may be a little more work for the mods... but hey, they get a staff room and beer
