I was just wondering why people hack into computers. I understand in some important computers there is important information or credit card numbers. But for normal computers, why would you bother to hack someone's computer when there is probably only porn and games on it. And on that same note, why do people send all those chain viruses and stuff. What do they gain from it?? For example, my friend today had a virus and it messaged me saying "Hey do you mind if i add this picture of us onto myspace?" then gave a link to download a picture. It was really a virus she later told me. I just don't get it...why?? i know there are a lot of computer guys on here..so help me guys..i'm thoroughly confused!!

they just like to see other people suffer so they can have a laugh about it ,it's quite sad when they resort to hacking though.

More to the reason, they do it to get there name out there. They want the attention, so if the world goes "OMGZ THERES THIS NEW CHARLIE VIRUS" then they'll feel like they've acomplished something.

Fact is, these people are simply wannabe's. They dont have the skill or knowledge to be genuine hackers (if something is hacked properly, no one will ever know)
Fact is, there are people like this in all walks of life, like the guys who stick big bore exhausts and bodykits on thier 1.1 corsa's or the girls who have to have the latest "versace" bag. All they end up doing whilst desperately trying to be "cool" is looking like what they are - "rebels without a clue"
Dont encourage them and just delete everything you dont expect.

There are several reasons for it.
Only muppets and script kids leave a trail, they're the ones that give these people a bad name.
Accessing somebodys personal computer, is actually quite rare. When it happens it's not in the way you'd think. The computer is used as a gateway so that a pro doesn't get caught.
More common than that is now accessing corporate servers. This is normally done for industry info and the guys who do this are paid well. The corpo's pay thousands and thousands in network security but you can be 100% sure half that staff are using one of the top ten passwords.
SPAM is still effective, annoyiing but effective, why else would there be millions of these mail going out a day?
The only way spam will become a thing of the past is when people stop being stupid enough to open them!
