I've just started to use an optical mouse and it's not as good as my old ball mouse! My rank has dropped in all games since, and i also seem to go out in tournements on FP at the first round (rather than the second)
However i am hoping to get used to it, i really need to go to my mouse settings and adjust it!

Same here - my old ball mouse broke and that was simply awesome this new optical mouse i have is a lot more difficult on aiming etc.. even when changing the speed of it.
Tricky to change the speed of mouse go
Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer options > and change the pointer speed.

Oh my, thought i might comment here.
This is the third mouse i have had since november. (1st got wire chewed by dog, second was an optical mouse that was utter useless).
It's a ball mouse, however now it's starting to feel like im moving it through a layer of jam (which is suprising considering i have only had it for 2 months!). If i was speaking literally then i guess it would be slightly amusing. But it's not.
I can't actually play snooker properly at them min. Due to the fact that i have to really jerk the mouse forwards for it to register, i can't actually hit a ball without whacking it full pelt across the table.
Indeed i would be better off with real cue for this matter.
*Takes Mother's Day money for present out of wallet to get a new mouse so i can play online snooker*
...sigh...

i disagree, i am using an optical one (is it optical? its got no ball and its got a red light underneath)
its a 5 button one and its called mercury.
it glides across the mouse mat like nobody's business!! i'd never go back to a ball mouse.
hope this helps

To be honest, i hate mice.
Considering my recent luck with these things, i'd rather use a touchpad.

this is going to sound crazy, but i well like my mouse, and surprisingly i think its the one that came with the computer. its one of those laser ones (is that what optic mouses are..i dunno) and i've never really hard problems with it at all.

This is an optical/laser input mouse. Most have a red light underside or a red/black bar frontside (for wireless).
I prefer the ball mouse myself (mainly for the value for money). This is more of a lab rat.

i ue an optical mouse, i have had for around about a year+ now and have had no problem's (for now ).
i have had a ball my previous before i descovered the genius in an optical mouse, i seemed to have noticed that with the ball mouse you have to keep your mouse mat VERY tidy i.e no biscuit crumb's ect. because when you roll the ball over the crumbs, they get jammed inside the moue and cause the ball to stop working proberly cauing lag ect. ( to much hassle to take ball out and clean it)... probably put ball back in wrong way .... that was a joke people not THAT dumb
