I hate people who leave games when ure on a high break but there is very little you can do. you just have 2 hope that the person has some decensy about them (20 to 3 in the morning :0 I should go sleep)

someone had the idea of locking the players in the room until that game has ended. This is a gd idea but surely instaed of locking them in the room.....
The game could go on as normall but without the opponent. and if it is there turn just wait until the timer runs out and a random shot could be played for them.

Yeah that's what I thought curtisorren, as people can still leave, they just have to click the 'X' in the top corner.

Instead of that I think it could/should be where you carry on with your break no matter if your opponent has left or not.

Edit- Then when you miss the game is over

Yes, players should be locked in until the game has finished because if they leave its bad sportsmanship! it happens on funkypool as well when people dont get a golden break they just decide to leave the room!

Personally I just think my shots should be locked ontop the pockets once i reach 45 as i always miss the final black or whatever for the 50 - other people have ruined far fewer breaks than i've messed up myself

Tom and Curtis you have the solution I think. The fact is, you *can't* stop people from leaving. You *can't* lock them in. As has been said, there is always the little X in the top corner which will defeat any code that Nick builds in to the game.

Given that fact, the issue here is that the remaining player doesn't get to finish his/her break and get a nice score. Tom's suggestion is a good one: if a player leaves, the game does not finish until the current break is over when the current player misses a shot. You've won anyway, and with this modification you will still be able to get your big break, given the appropriate skill and/or luck.

It's a long time since I did any programming but I am pretty certain this modification is not rocket science.

Having said all that, I am with toad: I ruin far more potential 50+ breaks myself, than are ruined for me by other players. I get to about 45 and go to pieces. Never made it past 49 yet, and it's nobody's fault but my own.

and another angle...

Why do we watch snooker on TV? Because we like to see class players playing well. It's the same here in Funkysnooker. If an opponent is scoring well and building a big break, I would not dream of leaving, because I want to watch him or her do it, for the sheer enjoyment of watching a good player at work. Plus I might pick up a few tips if I watch the spin, angle etc that he or she uses.

At the end of the break surely there is a lot of pleasure to be had from sharing/congratulating that player's success too? Or am I being naiive to expect that?

I think watching spursjay and a few others definitely gave me an improvement in my gameplay in original. It is much better to stay in games because not only can you pick up tips, and to keep everyone happy by being a good sportsman
