Why is there no as much games as Arcade?

I have been waiting in a room now for 20 minutes and not one user has came in for a game! I dont see why there is so less people playing 'Original Snooker'. Its alot more challenging then Arcade Snooker, i do prefer Arcade Snooker but that doesn't mean i dont play Original.

I think all users should start playing both of the games on here.

Original is unpopular and nobody seems to want to play!

But why?

For me Tricky the reason is simple: In original snooker the screen resolution - particularly if I am playing on a laptop from a hotel bedroom which I do frequently - is such that the balls are not very round and/or clean-edged, and it is very difficult to judge angles accurately. On arcade the ball representations are bigger and more "round". Original is more like the real game and I would play it more, but it's very often "hit it and hope" rather than skill, and isn't all that much fun tbh.

I prefer original, its the only game that is a challenge. I spend more of my time on here playing it because it is basically real snooker. Arcade just seems to be a bit like pool but a bit better.

I get frustrated at the lack of games as well, just like on pool the pro games are actually dead. I hope more people play original now too, it needs reviving as its a great game!

EDIT: I don't play hit and hope brassraptor, if you want a decent break it requires more skill in original and its a better challenge. If you maximise the window, the balls look fine to me, I know sometimes there are glitches in the pixels on the game, but it doesnt happen that often

And another thing...

The table doesn't fill the whole screen even when you make the window as big as it will go. There is so much other "stuff" around the table that it is in effect smaller than it could be. I'd prefer to see the screen layout changed so that the green playing part of the table filled as much of the screen, to the very edges, as it possibly could, to make the balls comparatively bigger and better defined.

I dont really see how you can say that Original Snooker is "Hit and Hope", thats more like Arcade. Like breed77 said getting breaks on Original are more challenging and harder.

On Arcade its easy to get breaks of 30-40 and alot harder on Original, i have only played 100+ games on Original and i would like to play alot more, but there is know games or nobody that wants to play if you create a room!

It proves that Original is alot harder as there are plenty of people that have the 107!

I think its not just original snooker that is dieing, the site is. there used to be around 200 people online on an average weekday evening, now a lot of people have left or rarely come on as on a saturday afternoon just 55 people were on today. That doesn't exactly help the situation of original snooker.


Just a thought - it could be that people are on holiday as it is easter hols?

Not sure that is the site, but i have a few friends from over on pool and they have been coming over here as they say thats theres to many muppets and the site gets worse and worse.

People that come from Funkypool will more then likely play Arcade Snooker as its much like Pool, Original Snooker is alot different and dont see why people dont give it a go!

its because people dont like realising that they are not good enough. They fear the challenge of playing on it. Its actually a brilliant game and the closest I'll ever find to actually playing on a real snooker table lol - the best there is online.


I agree something must be done to start getting people playing both games - and thats a bit rich from pool players! there are far more muppets on pool probs cos more people play on it.

I think one of the reasons that I play arcade more is because of the lack of people that play original. Like what happened to you Rich, I have found myself waiting a long time for someone to join a room, at which point of got bored of waiting and played an arcade game. I will join a game of original if I can, but most the time there are only 2 or 3 games going, so I find myself having to play arcade if I want games.

But yeah, it would be good if more people started playing original snooker, it is more challenging, which is why I like it!

original snooker is much better (in my opinion) because arcade isnt actually a real game - just a promotional tool to encourage people who dont like a challenge to come here and play it because it is easier. And to attract pool players, on pool many people talk about playing arcade, but never original - because in a way it is fairly similar to UK 8 ball.

People that dont play Original Snooker, why dont you play/like it?

1. Disable Sun's VM
a) On IE, select "Tools"
b) Select "Internet Options"
c) Select "Advanced"
d) Scroll down to Java (Sun)
e) Deselect the chekbox
f) Press "OK" to confirm the dialog boxes
g) Bookmark this page if necessary; then close and reopen your browser window.

Some users may find an option on the bottom right of the game window which controls the zoom on the advert/table.

Default zoom should be 100% as displayed on the window but if you reduce the % to say 50% the advert on the top right should shrink to half the size, therefore slightly enlarging the table size.

If you can try experimenting this, you will find a zoom effect to suit the ball size and shape, making it a little easier to shoot.

That does work Farren, not only does it make the table a bit bigger, but yeah, it does also make the balls more round without the bits sticking out!

I now have a bigger table with round balls, and no big advert in the top right corner! Thanks Farren!

On vista you can zoom in with a magnifiying glass ! this make it easier to play original snooker easier to play on a laptop!

Yeah to be honest mate it was like 25 C down where i am and if i wasnt at work no way would i have been indoors this afternoon!

Took the words out of my mouth poo_cue! As it gets closer to summer and it gets warmer, there is going to be less and less people on funkysnooker during the day as there is more to do due to the good weather.
