When the numbers are on, it usally indicates a connection problem.

If many users are logged out simultaneously, it's a server problem.

If a proportion eg 10% are logged out chances are it's a network related problem eg NTL can't connect to certain sites.

If a single user has been disconnected then it could be
- your connection has gone down
- other programmes are hogging the bandwidth (eg downloaders, music streaming, a virus), maybe throttle the allowed bandwidth for these and check your system for a virus.
- something is temporarily blocking your connection to the game server (the connection is usually a "socket" based connection).

If your connection does go down then the game will attempt to reconnect to the server and re-establish connection upto 8 times (you can see the numbers 1/8 count on the top right).

Occasionally errors occur. These are logged and sent to the server under any possible instance (there's no personally identifiable data sent!). If you use the recommended Java setup reported errors occur less than once every 1000 player hours.

Nick can you see a problem with the forum posts? Seems the time has changed on them hence being posted in advance of the others.

to my knowledge adverts do not cause your conection to go, its something to do with your internet connection that causes you loose connection somewhere long the lines. not totaly sure why am not very good with these sort of things.

i have been on pool and had massave lag and bad delay in game play its self but snooker has been fine.

EDIT: Please do not advertise adblockers on the forum. Without adverts there would be no free play available.

the ad's are there to keep the game running. All you have to do is think

'see mickey mouse, don't take shot'

That way your covered not only for ad's, but for alcohol consumption, fits of any kind, and much more. I've been following that theory for years!

Really though. theres a stigma attached to ad's and lag, they don't vary in size or processing power. It's physically impossible for them to slow your game down intermitently as you describe.

brighteyes... its both those ads...

the ads are full animation movies, what happend to just an ad in the corner!!!

some computers have trouble playing flash movies and playing the game too - hence, lag!

am well aware the ads are needed for this great site, but the animation ones are a bit much, bring back the static ads!
