there was actually a boy from my city kille, i didn't know him, but the fact it hit so close to home is kind of an eye opener. it just reminds us that no matter how far the world has come, we've got so far to go....

In fairness, if someone wants to get a gun they will get it, regardless of the legality. I agree completely though.

I think it's a disgrace that anyone outside the military should be able to get hold of a gun so easily. You wouldn't need it to defend yourself if the majority didn't have guns and if American politicians weren't so easily influenced by the gun lobby.
The right to bear arms was written when the Constitution was first framed, at a time when they still feared the British and native Indians. Also it was still an agrarian society where perhaps guns were very much part of the culture. I just think in such a civilised nation it is a shame that these killers think that they are 'martyrs' and that 32 innocent people can have their lives taken from them so easily. What do American people really need guns for?
R.I.P
EDIT: also in the UK last year 39 people were killed by gun crime in a society where guns are not allowed. In the US 30,000 or so were killed by gun crime where many people have guns.

The rest of the world actually has gone quite far in gun control, it just the fact that the US can't make a simple amendment to 'the right to bear arms'. 39 people dead in the UK is a high number - but 30,000 is just at a completely different level, and people will continue dieing in those numbers until something is done about it in the US

39 people in the uk killed last year and in 1 day in america 32 get killed and more injured. its appauling that he was allowed to have a gun and that the general public in america can just buy guns over the counters.
for realitives ad friends of the people who got injured or killed, i and i presume everyone else on here would agree that we are sorry for what has happened and that this crazed man could do so much damange.

I think too many people are putting too much emphasis on the gun laws in America. I think they need to look more at the culture of the country.
Heart goes out to all those both involved and affected by this.
