Peter Sutcliffe aka the Ripper in the UK: If anyone stops him having voices in his head telling him to kill women will be a miracle worker. For some they can't be helped. The ones which could be helped but aren't are not so because of our society. Simple.

Lets agree to disagree, perhaps it is out different cultures that bring us to different conclusions. It seems to me that you have still overlooked the 30,000 figure. But nevertheless we are all entitled to our own opinions.

i chose to be an open minded person, i accept all opinions and know that there is no right answer to any of these questions. i definitely do not overlook any 1 of those 30,000 deaths because i know each one of those people represents our future as the planet earth. one of those people could have found a cure for cancer, and every one of those people was someone's loved one...
and as for your repetitive 30,000 figure....
Quoted from Time Magazine
" For all the ink and airtime that follow an attack like the one at Virginia Tech, mass murder is an exceedingly rare crime. The rate of killings in the US involving five or more victims -- one generally accepted definition of a mass killing-- represented less than 1% of all homicides 25 years ago, and still does today. Among kids, the overall violence figues are actually plummeting, with the number of children under 17 who commit murder falling 65% between 1993 and 2004."
edit: i just wanted to add that although i was arguing a different point than you, i actually am in favor of more gun control, but i'm more infavor of fixing the other factors first

i'd also like to post that from 1995-2000 (also found in time magazine) the follow represents the use of guns in crimes against college (uni) students
65% = no weapon
26%= other weapon
9% = guns

A little naive maybe? but i agree with you everybody can be helped in one way or another. But it is their choice whether to accept it or not

That only includes college/uni crimes, what about all the other places etc...? And not forgetting that ranges from around 12-7 years ago.

i'm not 100% sure, i could probably find a statistic on that..but i was trying to hint towards the fact that even if we make gun control more strict, the crime will stil be a majority of other weapons etc. if a person wants to kill someone or commit a crime, they don't need a gun. we need to take away that idea in their heads that that is the right thing to do
