I have an idea to hopefully solve people creating numerous accounts..
All newbies cannot play a ranked match (friendly only) for the 1st 25 games and cannot enter tournaments also.
This gives the genuine newbies time to get used to playing in games without losing a lot of points and i think 25 is sufficient for first time players to get the hang of funky snooker.
I think this will end most of the arguements that all us users have with the "newbies" who play a tournament and if they lose re-set there scores or if they lose a couple of games as it will take another 25 games if they re-set.
Let me know what you guys think to this.
Whooooooooooooooooooosh.

I like this idea, people hopefully will not be bothered to play 25 games before they play ranked or tournament games and also I would like to see more of a crackdown on numerous accounts via email warning and then banning of the multiple ones.

it would help the site alot but, there are a few people who are leaving the site ( good players ) and they re-join to find they got to play 25 friendlies before actually being able to play a ranked game.
i like the idea alot and i think it would be a mass improvement if implemented and i'm sure alot of people would like to see it coded, but you will also get the fair few who disagree
but great idea mate!

if people go 8 they do not have to delete there account... keep it open for a rainy day so they don't have too.
But if they do go for a while and come back they will be happy for the 25 games to get the old form back

All I can do is quote that, so simple yet so effective on SO many levels. I mean the deleting thing as well, it defers them.
BRILLIANT!

Genuine newbies now theres the thing! I agree completely, there are too many 'fake' players now who have been on the site for a long time and this would be a massive deterrent.
I look forward to its implementation!

Cheers lads, i do think will be the answer to 99% of the problems that we have with newbies and people deleting account or setting up another name.
We need this thread to be kept here for people to see and for it to get noticed. Also if Mods & Admin can get nick to read this thread or email it to him that would be fantasic.
We need as many people agreeing to this thread, and that it is the best way forward to solve the problems we are having with these "fakes"

This has been suggested a few times and is pretty much the way things used to be. I really liked the system and would be delighted to see it happen.
I suggested it a few months ago and it got a lot of support then as well (50 games was suggested at that point but thats nit-picking).
I'm sure Nick will take note, all the recent updates are prime examples of the way the forums shape the site development.

Great Idea! The best way to stop a majority of people who constantly re-set and delete!

If i remember correctly it was changed to the current system so newbies could get a better feel for the site.
25 games may not seem a lot to regular users, but may put many newbies off. After all, they may have played 100 games as a guest, which is what this suggestion effectively turns them into.
Not many people will bother signing up if they aren't going to see any real benefit from doing so.
I cant see a problem with newbies entering tourneys, and the rank adjustment that comes with the new "newbie" status after the 11th may update means they have an even longer lead-in before they can have any real impact on ranked games.
Regarding existing users resetting/deleting..

One thing i have always thought would help is the change of the delete button to give a month before the account is actually deleted (preventing users from deleting/creating and giving people a cooling off period to change thier minds), and restrictions on resetting, making it only possible to reset after 200 games or if your rank is 850 or more.
Obviously these figures can vary, but i hope they help illustrate the idea.

why not i am/was a proper newb and had an arcade rating of nearly virtuoso, 4 half centuries and a tourny win before i was out my newb status. I have never had an account on funkysnooker before but play on funkypool a lot. as i reached pro on there at everything i decided to try my hand at this. i hate people who reset and delete all the time as well but if i play them i just treat the game as a virtuoso and play more tactical. easy to check someones profile before a game and if you dont fancy your chances dont play them

i understand what your saying tornado my friend, but its not a case of the more people the better, its a case of whether this is a good implementaion or not,
i personally think its a great idea, "i myself could easily create another user name and beat most of the people on here" but i dont see this as gaining anything,
why not try and keep the rank you have and improve on it rather than get beat "lose 11 points" and reset your account?????????
