Surely random shots should result in having ball in hand.
Countless number of times i've played opponents who've 'randomes' and either potted a ball of the resulting shot or left a snooker of somekind!
Now to a player who actually wants to play the game and fullfill every shot surely we shouldn't be punished?

yeah i agree. it may have helped me in the past lol but now i think a random shot should be given as a foul and 4 points given to the opponent...nice idea

Yes, but im sure you have had random shots too. And people say the same thing about you. its not just other people mate its everyone. but a random shot is still a shot. even if a ball sinks or you get snookered.... play the game

But when a player can't be bothered to play a shot surely they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it.

yh thats right!! but sumtimes it might no be the players fault i.e. connection problem
11:00 Fri 27 Jul 07 (BST) [Link]
Exactly. Most of my random shots are due to lag.
11:27 Fri 27 Jul 07 (BST) [Link]
why would it be because they couldnt be bothered it could be a number of reason.
1) they needed to go somewhere for a minute
2) toilet
3) connection
the random time shot rarely goes in favour of the person who has a occured a penalty

Maybe instead of a random shot then the ball doesnt move. You get 4 points and have the option to tell the opponent to retake the shot.

very true has happened to me but i like cuchulians idea
04:37 Sun 29 Jul 07 (BST) [Link]
great idea cuchulain it would stop flukes off random time shots and make the game a ot more fair.
Random time shot can result in flukes but i think the worst part is when it smashes the balls and makes a messy table which is very hard to play on.
Cuchulains idea would keep the table how it was before the random time shot.
It also makes the game more realistic as this is what would happen in a real game

Yeah, good idea Cuchulain, I know it's not very often but balls do sometimes get potted off Random Shots...It's happened a couple of times against me where my opponent is on a colour and pot a black! lol

To take into account the possible lag causing the random shot, why doesnt nick put a limit of 3 randon shots per player per frame, after 3 have been used up then it is deemed as a foul and 4 points be given?

What would happen for the first 3 random shots? The ball stay as it is and is given to the other player? Or the random shot is done as it is now until after 3.
I think it's after 5 random shots in a row you automatically lose anyway...

it should be after 3 random shots in a row that the game is forefitted...in real snooker if you can hit a ball without bouncing off a cushion and foul 3 times in a row, the frame is rewarded to the opponent...why dont we have the same rule?
