The removal of both the reset option and delete option will solve a lot of problems.

Now that would make an ideal FunkySnooker!

I'm sure it will happen. Nick's been talking about doing this for some time.

A little background may help here.
The reset stats option was only recently introduced, as a help to prevent deleting.
This came about mostly due to the quantity of players on pool (i suspect its not so common here) who like to play first to 100, or challenge themselves to achieve a high win percentage over 100 games etc.
Now, these players are breaking no rules, and are just as entitled to play the game the way they enjoy as people who only play for rank, or prefer tournaments, or anything else. The more players the better, no matter their preference.
However the constant deleting/creating made a mess of forums etc so a reset option provided a sensible solution.
At the end of the day, the only person the reset feature affects is the user themself. However the idea of having resets made "sticky" on the users events sheet would be a nice addition.

As Nick has mentioned before, the problem with removing the delete option is that users have to have a method of removing their details from the server.
Personally i like the idea of a deactivation system as used on many other sites. Where a users email details etc are removed, but the account name remains. Thus allowing them to log back in and add an email address again if they change their minds, and keeping the forums and tournament results tidy by not leaving "deleted user" all over the place.
After 6 or 12 months or so, if the user doesnt log in, the username would be removed and made avaliable again as is happening with the current batch of long term unused accounts.
Er, bit of a rant there, but yeah, we can remove the delete option, however it has to be replaced by something. But removiong the reset option will just make things messy as people find other ways of starting from scratch.

Well can't we have something saying if a person has reset their stats or insted of being called a 'newbie', how about a 'reset newbie' or even remove the newbie status altogether when they reset???

This has been discussed over and over again, and has been suggested many times, by me and others.
See this for example:

Nick said that his idea would be very complex to introduce, and favours the removal of the reset and delete as an easier solution. Least, thats what he said last time I spoke to him about it.

PS the thread i have cross-referenced above is a perfect example of what spinner said about the forums being a mess with deleted players.
