Ive lost interest in tourneys!I can get through a few rounds but only to meet a virtuoso along the way!!!No chance!!
I think handicaps should be introduced to give everybody else a chance of winning a tourny every once in a while!
Depending on the rank, I think there should be a score diffrence at the start of the frame, to try even the game and maybe even give the virtuoso a challenge!

If this is a suggestion it should have been posted in Game Queries forum

yes i think this should be moved to games queries

I can see where your coming from with this idea and a lot of people may agree, however doesn't it give you an incentive to want to get better, so that therefore you can live with all ranks from novice to virtuoso?

Stick to the point will you, knit picking at the smallest details...

I agree with him, make it a more level playing field...

How's that exactly?

People read all the forum folders whether its in queries or shouts, its the same thread and anyone can post regardless...

Yes mate but it lookes neater if things are put in the right place, nobody is knit picking or trying to put down the suggestion, its just that we cant have sports chat posts in games queries and games queries in games shouts. (just an example..)

Also some people prefer to go on certain forums and people who want to offer and talk about suggestions will ultimately go to games queries.

Now back on to topic....

Well I'm not bothered what happens, ill have fun both ways so I don't really need to comment on his suggestion and I was only telling him where to go.. so the mods/admins can have a little break.

Anyway, I think this could be a good suggestion, lets hopefully now have some feedback regarding the original post!

Personally i think its a good idea, I just took at a look at all the winners of snooker tournaments from the last day or so and practically all of them are well established virtuosos.

(oops_is_back has a win % of 90 so its fair to say he's not a legit newbie)

This makes it VERY unlikely that an adept or even a decent pro could ever win a snooker tournament as its a race to 2 wins in the semi and final and a once off break above 50 is meaningless in these cases..

I think a handicap system put into place, depending on your status (virtuoso, pro, adept) could be a good fair idea..

An arguement against could be that with practise comes a higher rank but sometimes thats not the case (poor form, lack of talent)

Anyone agree?

i think if it were to happen it shouldnt be on all of the tournaments, just on a select few.

Note: Dont use the forums to score points over each other and to point out small spelling errors

Once again back on topic...

What about some players who dont play rank and just tournies?

Therefore could be a intermediatte 675.0 and have 20 arcade tournament wins (example)

I dont think it would work personally

And who determines how many points is given to the player with the lesser hand?

And how many points is given to say a 100 point difference?

You could have a 860 pro play a 960 virtuoso and have a 25-30 point head start, break and win the game off that, this would not give the virtuoso a chance.

Why fix something that isnt broken?

instead of doing that you could just hold more tournys like on pool.
i can see why this devalues tournys as at night hardly anyone enters but im just offering a different solution

Tired* I was stressed out and a bit sleepy.

Back to the topic.

I will win a tournament just to prove to you..

Tournaments are meant to be challenging, if handicaps did happen to come into the game, it would wreck them.

Handicaps will take the fun out of the fun factor.

If you really want to win a tournament practice!
Its not very hard to win one but, i can understand why people are loosing interest.

The Pro's and virtuoso's worked hard for they're wins, rank, half cents, cent and tournament wins so why can't you just take time to practice and get better..

not everyone is meant to be good at this game.. so... just have fun while trying and you will get better over time and you just might win a tournament or two.

everyone who are established players have had to start from the bottom, these people have had to practice hard to win the tournaments and so should everyone else in my opinion.

It would increase the challenge for the better players...think about that comment again mate...

And again...I think a handicap tourney could be more fun for the lesser players...

Mate, my highest ranking was 919 a couple of weeks ago.. Maybe if i entered a few tourneys i might actually be in with a chance of winning one..

Im thinking of the absolute lesser players...
