Yeh like the christams Tourny Arcade though because thats the most popular and it needs to be popular to work.

You could a Christmas Special Mararthon Tourny or somethin like that.

we have a league already and arcade snooker marathon tournies already, i dont see wot would be different about a xmas tourney, maybe just change the name of 1 tourney and make that into the xmas tourney but it will be no diff from the rest

well.. How about you can get the chance to play in a "Christmas Tournament Special" which is ranked but you wont lose points but every win you get you will get a few points?

Round 1: 5 points per win - first to 3
Round 2: 10 points per win - first to 2
Round 3: 15 points per win - first to 1
Quarter-Final: 20 points - first to 1
Semi-Final: 25 points per win - first to 1
Final: 50 points - first to 3

From 12am at night to 12am the next day

also this will give someone the chance to get a 1000 rank this would happen every special holiday!!


Also we could have a new stat on our profiles "Tournament Holiday Events" won"

I have to disagree with the fact that someone could reach a 1000 rank. The ranking system relies on the fact that it's an unreachable upper bound, so I'm against any idea going against this rule... unless nick decides to modify completely the ranking system!

Also the frames count is a bit weird in your schedule: 3-2-1-1-1-3, i don't understand why play mode games in the first round than in the semi-final.

Its a special tournament
1000 rank; not a lot of players will get to it in 1 day?
why not let them be special until the next holiday ?

Well, With it being a christmas special, And to see 'the best player of 2007' i personally think the game should last longer, much longer.

Round one - First to 5
Round two - First to 5
Round three - first to 5
Quarter Final - first to 7
Semi-final - First to 9
Final - First to 15

That to me will pretty much show the best (if the enter), Not only that it can also show who is consistant because with that lay out the game should last around 2-3 hours, I prefer the longer games because as the games go on... I improve so this would benefit me adn probably a lot of others.

If it was to be a ranked tournament, Then the only way this would work is if you lost rank aswell, So say instead of 1.5 points per frame, As with my lay-out there are a possible 71 frames to be played (if they all go to the remaining frame), So maybe have 2 points per win?, So all in all they can gain a maximum of 12 points, Which is round about what you win anyway.

If this get's a good reception then i will leave a note for Nick to have a look at, If he then decides to go ahead with this i will leave a thread regarding the the Date, Time ect. so noone can say, Well i wasn't imformed.

That sounds extremely long Ronni. The final alone would take 2-3 hours. And then there 31 more games to be played along the way. You're looking at around a 6 hour tournament there. I doubt that many people would stay on for that long...

final 2-3 hours?... The final should take up to around 45 minutes.

i say we justchange the name, however this may need nick to do it and im not sure of the implications coding wise this would make.

45 minutes for a first to 15 game? You sure it's not best of 15?

either way, It won't take 2-3 hours just for the final, Each arcade game usually takes 5-10 minutes, Unless it has a couple of minutes safety play which is very rare in arcade. So the time it should take is about hour and half tops, Yeah that is long compared to the other marathon games, But this is a one off special!!!.

The reason why it is called a Christmas 'special' is because it won't happen again. So to me the whole tournament should take around three, Three and a half hours which isn't to bad. It just shows who is consistant

The idea of special tournaments has been discussed on pool in the past, and seemed quite popular.

In fact, we had a couple a few months back which went really well.

If an agreement can be made about time, day and format, then we can take it from there
