Simple idea
Players gets to rate other players
The person with the best rating at the end of the month gets "Player Of The Month Award"
This can work with Moderator of the month too
This will be added to your profile
whats your say on this suggestion?

I like the idea, but maybe do it in a different format. How about when you play a game against someone at the end of it you get the chance to submit some ratings.
For example, the game finishes and then there comes up an option saying 'Do you wish to submit some ratings', then if you select 'No', you carry on as normal, but if you select 'Yes', then the following comes up:
Sportmanship: *****
Attacking Play: *****
Defensive Play: *****
Or if not that many are wanted, there could just be:
Sportsmanship: *****
Snooker Skill: *****
The '*' would be 'Bubble Lettering' or something, and when you click one of them, all the starts before it become highlighted.
You would only be able to submit this once a day for the same player, so if you play more than one game against the same person then maybe the option either doesn't come up again, or it could say 'Would you like to change your ratings for this player'.
Thoughts?

I think this is a great idea!
It shouldn't be such a problem to code.
(I don't Think)
It would just be like the send complaint button but it will go to players profiles instead of to the admin's mail.
I think this would be such a good thing, it would really make it a more of challenging position for high rankers, to get personal views on they're play but, I do think there should also be a option to turn it on or off.
I think it would be a lot easier if a link pops-up after, the game has finished and then we should be able to get the option to rate one or put a % in of the following
Sportsmanship: 25%
Snooker Skill: 25%
Attacking Play: 25%
Defensive Play: 25%

Or maybe instead of giving them a percentage, just give them a rating out of 10, and what will appear on their profile is something like:
Sportmanship: 7.4/10
Snooker Skill: 8.3/10
Attacking play: 8.6/10
Defensive play: 7.8/10
Sportmanship: 7.4/10
Snooker Skill: 8.3/10
Attacking play: 8.6/10
Defensive play: 7.8/10

the only problem with this is that it could be abusive, to show good players in a bad light, people could intentionally lie aboout the rating, and you have no way of redeeming it...

That is a good point but I think there could be a filter on this.
10 rates a week
cant rate that player more than once a week
must have a ranking over 750 (non-newbie)
I know there will be some trying to abuse this but not a lot!

Almost anything can be abused though, there's got to be some things that risks can be taken on. And to be honest, the game play doesn't get affected by it, it's just something to add to see how people play and what they're like. As long as people know it is done by other members and therefore may not be completely honest opinions, so therefore don't take odd feedback too seriously, then it should be fine...
There could even be a new page added to 'Results' and 'Events' that says 'Ratings', and maybe it could show the last 20 ratings that have been submitted, this way people could see if there are people going around giving bad ratings to good players, and who these 'bitter people' are.
It may also give people an incentive to be nicer to others during the game, should sportsmanship be used as one of them, people might be nicer to their opponents in order to get better feedback...

Continued from post above (Not enough characters left)
Going by the restrictions given above by Jay, maybe it could be that you can only rate a player once, so people can't keep coming back rating this player badly, and then each time you play them you get the option to change your feedbacd instead of adding new ratings. This way if there are people who go round giving bad ratings to good players (There will only be a minority I'm sure), then once players have a good amount of feedback, the bad rating wont effect their overall rating as much...
Oh and the restriction on ranking that you must be to submit feedback (You put 750), in my opinion, there shouldn't be a minimum rank, as this would stop the not-so-good but honest players submitting feedback, but I agree with the fact that non-newbies shouldn't get to do the feedback.

imo the profiles allready have enough info on the add all that would make profiles look untidy with to muck info on them

How about an extra little 'Tab' at the top with this on, just saying something like "Player Ratings" or something like that?
09:45 Tue 11 Dec 07 (GMT) [Link]
I think we should focus on in game upgrades rather then cosmetic upgrades imo

Well I thought it was an in-game suggestion seems people are rating about your performance..
I personally think the game is great at the moment but, obviously in time it will change a little so.. Every Little Helps?

what about if the highest and lowest couple of scores given to a player each week or month or whatever were not taken into account. This would mean that bitter people ranking low on purpose wouldnt effect scores and neither would mates ranking high. In theory should give far more accurate scores
