it doesnt, there is always an infinite number of points on the table taking into consideration fouls etc

Good idea I hate trying to work out what you need to pot and play your shot all in 20secs!!!

possible on the table at the time then

the amount remaining is the maximum possible left on the table, this would hep you work out if you needed snookers. fouls aren't part of the break mate so fouls wouldn't count as the amount of point remaining.
